We have the same tense in English:

She has worked in a number of places We have had 3 months of class.

These are all actions that started in the past but have some kind of continuation or relevancy to the present.

LA FORMACIN

The have or has part of the present perfect is formed with the verb HABER, which is NOT the same as TENER [to have, possess, own]. It is, of course, an irregular verb [sorry].

The past participle here is part of a VERB and therefore doesnt have a feminine or plural form.
Any kind of pronouns go before the form of HABER. verbos reflexivos: Este semestre me he levantado a las 6:00.
