Assessment

is the process of documenting knowledge, skills,


attitudes and beliefs, usually in measurable terms. The goal of assessment is to make improvements, as opposed to simply being judged. In an educational context, assessment is the process of

describing, collecting, recording, scoring, and


interpreting information about learning.

Evaluation is the broader process of monitoring all aspects of the learning process (including the relevance of objectives, appropriateness of content, resources and teaching methods, the quality of the learning environment, etc.) for the purpose of making

judgments about how to improve the learning


process.

Formative evaluation provides feedback and information during the instructional process, while learning is occurring. It can also assess teachers progress.
