Introduction
Represents a basic concept of: i. Electric energy harvesting. ii. Green energy Project purpose: to generate electricity from energy loss of vibrating motorized machine. A concept of vibration is applied in PIZEGE, to transfer the kinetic energy from the vibration to electric energy. PIZEGE design represents a basic model to harvest the kinetic energy created from the vibrating motorized machine which is then transferred and stored as electric energy. 10% to of the electricity can be saved from the amount generated by UTP

Problem Statement
Harvest energy loss from vibrating motorized machine

Objective
To harvest energy loss from motorized vibrating machines (Case Study: Compressor) To save electricity cost by at least 2% per week (Case study: one wing of lecturers office). To promote the concept of energy harvesting

Literature Review

Piezo-electric
Piezoelectric element is now widely used to harvest mechanical energy and convert it to electric energy. Basically, piezoelectric element produces electric energy when the material is stressed or pressure is applied on it. Lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) is commonly used in producing this piezoelectric device.

Previous Design

Current Design

Efficiency: Amount of Piezo-disk used on previous prototype is very few and not compatible to use for more Piezodisk as the current prototype and it is waste of space.

Results and Discussion

Reading of Oscilloscope

X-axis=0.2 V/division; y-axis=5ms/division

0.4 V/ Period; Period: 20ms; Frequency of the generator=50 Hz

Power Generated= 0.16 mW

Graph above shows the output voltage generated by PIZEGE measured with Oscilloscope.

Recommendation

Recommendation
Use Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting Power Supply [LTC3588] Increase amount of Piezo-disk for a larger scale of machine (e.g. compressor) Need more sensitive Piezo

Conclusion

Conclusion
An effective energy harvesting product design to store electricity from kinetic energy. Efficiently save usage of electricity in UTP by 20%-30% Advantage of PIZEGE: i. Energy harvesting ii. Green Technology iii. Cost-efficient
