You will see us for scheduling problems, career information, academic issues or anything that may be getting in the way of your success.

Every course you pass counts toward graduation. At NH every grade you earn will be used to calculate your QPA. The more difficult the course the higher the QUALITY POINTS. Your QPA is an important piece of information colleges use to make their selection.

Each of your courses, grades, credits, and your daily attendance is recorded on your High School Transcript. An Official Transcript sent to each college or technical/vocational school that a student applies to, but a review can also be requested by:

4 credits of English must include: - 1 credit of English 9 - 1 credit of English 10 - 1 credit of American Literature and Composition in grade 11 -or AP English Language - 1 credit AP English Literature- or 2 of the following semester courses: Adventure & Quest, Apocalyptic Literature, Female Perspectives, Questioning the Self, Classic to Modern Literature or Social Class Warfare- or English Lab 12

4credits of Social Studies must include:


- 1 credit of American Studies - 1 credit of World History - 1 credit of American Government -or AP US History, AP European History, AP Government and Politics - 1 credit from the following courses AP US History, AP European History, AP Government, Social Studies 12, Other SS electives.

3 credits of Mathematics must include:

- 1 credit of Algebra 1
- 1 credit of Geometry - 1 credit of Algebra 2

3 credits of Science must include: - 1 credit of Biology - 1 credit of Chemistry - 1 credit of Science Elective courses

What Do I get to Pick? Electives!

You must carry 7 credits (4.5 required 2.5 your choice) You may carry 7, 7.5 or 8 credits You can not take more than 8 credits (4.5 required and 3.5 your choice) You can choose 2.5, 3 or 3.5 credits of electives from the arts, business, technology, language, family and consumer science and music. Your choice!

Course Selection Process

February: Mrs.Helfrich and Mrs. Weber make classroom visits, students receive Program of Studies February 27th: Curriculum Night at NHSH February 28th: You can log-on to Progress Book and make your course selections In May, before you leave for the summer, you will receive a tentative schedule to review. This will be the time to check everything and make any changes you need to.

How do we pick our classes?


Use the Program of Studies. Explore all of the options and decide on the level of required courses and write the course numbers on the worksheet. Look at your elective choices and add the course numbers to the worksheet. This is what your worksheet will look like

Count credits not classes Do not worry about how they fit together Talk to your teachers about which classes are a good fit. Think ahead to 10th grade and beyond. You must have 7 credits, you may have up to 8 credits.

Course Request Procedures


This year parents and students will have the opportunity to complete the course request process via the internet and the District ProgressBook system from any computer with internet access. Step 1: Complete the Student Course Selection and Individual Academic Plan Worksheet to assist you in scheduling and future course planning process. Step 2: Open Internet Explorer and log into your personal ProgressBook account. You may access the Course Request site by using either the parent or student log-in and password. If you do not have a current username and password, please contact by Mr. Don Clark by e-mail at clarkd@nhsd.net Once you have logged into the system, your home page screen will display the User Contents Box across the top. In the USER CONTENTS box, click COURSE REQUESTS

This will take you to the Course Catalog - Add Courses Menu

Courses will come up in numerical order. Click on the box(s) of the courses you have selected. Click the add button. Check your list carefully. Submit Print

Schedule Change Requests


No schedule change is guaranteed. No schedule changes will be approved for teacher preference, or time/period preference. Once the school year has begun, only those requests deemed to be crucial will be approved. electives to move to a study hall will be considered.
