Mission statement: To facilitate and promote the progress of engineering and the international exchange of information and knowledge in the field of System Technical Performance. To add value to this information and knowledge by means of synthesizing state-of-the-art practices and developing recommendations. Scope: SC C4 is responsible for methods and tools for analysis related to power systems. At present, the following fields are those on which the activity is being carried out Power Quality Electromagnetic Compatibility/Electromagnetic Interference (EMC/EMI) Insulation co-ordination Lightning Advanced Tools for the Analysis of Power Systems Performance Power systems dynamic performance models and analysis

Lightning Critical review of lightning parameter statistics; attachment process; correlation between lightning and voltage dips; protection of wind generators Transversal subjects Advanced theories/tools for surge propagation studies and for dynamic performance assessment. Main Conclusions of the 2008 Paris Session


How can system technical performance be specified, evaluated, and improved by considering: Item 1 - New techniques, tools and application experiences related to electromagnetic compatibility, insulation coordination, lightning protection, power quality and power system security; Item 2 - System technical performance indices and their impact on customers, asset owners and regulators; Item 3 - The influence of environmental stresses (such as lightning and pollution); Item 4 - The interaction of electrical equipment and customer installations with the power system
