Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be your name,

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.


Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.

For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

“Our” = communal
“Father” = sonship
“in heaven” = transcendent; foreseeing

‘Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me


will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never
be thirsty.”’ John 6:35

“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life,


and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real
food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and
drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.” John 6:54

that you, being rooted and established in love, may have
power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and
long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know
this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone


happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you
sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over
him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And
the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;
the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be
forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and
pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer
of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” James 5:13-
16

And lead us not into temptation,

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into


temptation.”

minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love

deliver us,
as you help us by your prayers.
Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious
favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.” 2

the glory forever. Amen.

“glory” = “Hallowed be your name”


“kingdom” = “Your kingdom come”
“power” = “Your will be done”
(the authority to give eternal life
and the power to raise one up)

What I need is to live the LORD’S PRAYER.

I am one of the children of the heavenly Father, a


prince/princess of the sovereign King, and one of
the members in the world.

To live a fruit-bearing life is to choose every day to


know Jesus and his love, to forgive one another,
to be clear-minded and self-controlled, and to
have hope in Him and in prayers.

In short:
1. Be different;
2. Start praying for His glory, kingdom, and
will within us and through us;
3. Then pray for our knowledge of His love,
act to forgive people, choose to be clear-
minded and self-controlled, and hope in
Him.

Points to ponder:
 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added
unto you.” (Mt 6:33)
 The significance of Holy Communion: a deep
knowledge of Jesus and His love.
 The practice of confession and forgiveness in the
church and in the world.
 New understanding of the Lord’s prayer in the life
of disciples (James, Peter, and John) and apostle
(Paul).

Heavenly Father,
I pray that he/she will be different.
I pray that Your glory, kingdom, and will be
within him/her and through him/her.
I also pray that he/she will every day know
Your love, forgive people, be clear-minded
