HYBRID PROJECT

OVERVIEW
Moving As One In pursuing its Corporate Agenda of becoming the Global Energy Champion and in line with its Brand Essence of 'reimagining energy, PETRONAS has embarked on a Project of using Hybrid fuel for F1 cars .With the Hybrid fuel, the vehicles uses minimal amount of fuel . PETRONAS has decided to explore an island which from satellite imaging, promising a large reservoir of alternative fuel. However this new source of fuel is not stable and entails the use of special chemical to neutralize the area around the source of the alternative fuel before it could be commercially viable to be extracted. The approach to the island is very hazardous. After considering all options it was decided to build rocket to insert the chemical and neutralise the ground and at the same time stabilising the alternative fuel source. Each team is required to build a rocket and to land it on the area where the product is located. After neutralising the ground around the island and new fuel source, only then, your group can approach the island, extract the alternative fuel and use it on your Hybrid car. Once this stage is completed, a second team will proceed to 5 areas to retrieve the Hybrid car parts and bring it back to designated assembly area. Your team is required to construct, use the alternative fuel in 4 Hybrid cars in an event called the Challenge. The design and construction of the cars is done in a timely and cost effective manner according to the PETRONAS F1 Hybrid Standard. The Best team will represent PETRONAS in line with its Corporate Agenda of becoming the Global Energy Champion and its Brand Essence of 'reimagining energy.

Rocket Construction ( 30 minutes )

Objective: To develop, construct and commission a rocket that can verify the new hybrid hydrocarbon and used it to fuel the hybrid car. Your Tasks: i) Construct 3x rocket ii) The rocket need to land in the reservoir so that the special chemical can stabilise alternative fuel and neutralize the ground. iii) Group will be reworded with FRM10,000.00 for every rocket landed in the reservoir and FRM5,000.00 for every rocket landed on the island. iv) The rest of the team will take the raft to go to the island and retrieve the fuel back to the main land.

Door Opening Task

(10 minutes per door opening task) It is mandatory for all Team to recover all parts in order to construct the Hybrid car. Team need to unlock the door that holding the parts and materials. Only upon successfully completing the obstacle will the team be able to open the door and gain access to them.

Requirements
Use all parts and material provided. Team has one(1) hour to design and construct the 4 Hybrid cars. (Points are given for creativity and originality ).
Once construction is completed the Team will be given air time to present their design and performance of their respective cars . Team will be allowed to do a time Trial and make any necessary improvement of their cars before the main event called The Challenge . Before the Challenge, all the cars will be inspected to ensure that they meet the F1 Design and Safety standard and requirements . Only cars meeting the safety standards will be allowed to participate in the Challenge The Challenge is to determine the actual performance of the cars in terms of its durability , ease of handling and speed. ( All cars must meet the minimum speed of 1 minutes to complete the circuit)

Design Phase
(10 minutes) Once all parts have been retrieved, Team will examine the building materials, discuss and plan the construction of the car. ACTUAL CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMMENCE ONLY AFTER THE GREENLIGHT TO DO SO BY THE MASTER OF CEREMONY. TEAM SHALL BE PENALISED IF CONSTRUCTION IS CARRIED OUT BEFORE THE START COMMAND IS GIVEN. (The instruction and the picture of the Hybrid car is available, but Team have to pay for it)

Building Phase
(50 minutes) Creativity and quality are points to be considered by respective Team during the construction phase. Points will be given for originality. (This will be done during the standard and presentation section)
(5 minute) Introduction to your Hybrid car and the driver with the codriver (umbrella girls will umbrella the driver and the codriver)

The Challenge
(50 minutes) The CHALLENGE will start once the presentation, speed trails and safety standard inspection is completed. This event will include a "pit-stop" segment where Team are required to inspect their cars and change drivers and pushers. Team will be required to solve puzzle before continuing the Challenge.

Instruction for the Facilitator 1

Start at 8.30am at the MPH (badminton hall) Line up the participants at the badminton hall and break them to smaller group call C.L.I.P. Sing NEGARA KU and PETRONAS song, warm up exercise. Tell the group that starting from now, no out going and incoming call are allowed and no smoking Team that come late have to sing COMMUNITY song Each team need to read the instruction and break the team to two group (one group will do the rocket and the other will practice on the raft) Each team will be given FRM10,000.00 for every successful mission and FRM5,000.00 for every rocket that manage to land on the island only.

Instruction for the Facilitator 2

After successfully landed or not successfully landed the rocket on the island the raft group will start to their journey to the island and retrieve the fuel back to the main land. Group 1 will go to the KL tower game (Tower building) Group 2 will go to the Bees colony game (Wood puzzle) Group 3 will go to the IRAQ quicksand game (square walk) Group 4 will go to SIAM project games (Siamese twin) Each group have 10 minute to overcome the obstacle (if failed, the group will be given the red card and if succeeded the will be given the green card) Green card each group will collect FRM based on data on the card Red card each group will pay back to the FRM bank according to the card instruction Each Team need to appoint an account and audit group

Instruction for the Facilitator 3

After the retrieval games, teams need to get all the materials need to the assembly line. Team need to wait for the team leader to instruct them by reading the instruction sheet. (Failing to do so the group will be issued RED card and pay to the bank) 30 minute for the rocket project 10 minute for the team to open the door 10 minute for instruction, discussion and planning 50 minute for construction time 10 minute for Hi tea 5 minute for team introduction of their Hybrid car with the umbrella girls, driver and co-driver (The judge will select the best team base on design and originality)

Instruction for the Facilitator 4

50 minute challenge (Team will start with premiere race to put team in positions). 2 team will race first, whichever team finish first will go the finals and the loosing team will go for 3rd or 4th placing All the team will be given prize money but The winning team the one collecting the most money in the Challenge and will represent Team PETRONAS for moving as one Dissemble all the Hybrid cars and do the housekeeping
