MODERN ARCHITECTURE
Modern architecture is characterized by simplification of form and creation of ornament from the structure and theme of the building Modern architecture as primarily driven by technological and engineering developments, and it is true that the availability of new building materials such as iron, steel, and glass.

By the 1920s the most important figures in Modern architecture had established their reputations. The big three are commonly recognized As Le Corbusier in France, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius in Germany The most commonly used materials are glass for the facade, steel for exterior support, and concrete for the floors and interior supports; floor plans were functional and logical.

Examples of Modern architecture in the 21st Century include: One World Trade Center (2013) in New York City and Tour First(2011), the tallest office building in the Paris metropolitan area. Emporis named Chicago's Modern Aqua Tower (2009) its skyscraper of the year.

Contemporary architecture is generally speaking the architecture being made at The present time. The term contemporary architecture is also applied to a range of styles of recently built structures and space which are optimized for current use.

I Done my case study on SPIRAL SHELL HOUSE , located at deep in the woods Of Karuizawa , Japan, where its double-elliptical, shell-like shapes blend with its magnificent surroundings. I have chosen this house because of its unique structure and concept behind it.

The structure is totally based on spiral , curves , caves , and shell . The concept of house is using shell as a structure and curved and spiral look.
House is situated middle of the forest or green area. It has green surroundings which Present a aesthetic look . White concrete and wood used as a structural material. It is a double storey house and glass is also used for front and rear views. I simply love how its large, spacious living areas easily flow with its unique, circular architecture design

Spiral shell villa

SPIRAL SHELL VILLA.. designed by Kotaro Ide (ARTechnic Architects) with cave structure that constructed of wood and rocks. Its harmonizing with landscape and tree around it. A frame, a shape, made at a completely different place for a completely different purpose. Within this shell shaped structure will one find floors constructed, wall separating spaces, and rooms furnished. This house will provide a comfortable environment. The Shell made of mechanical system for .The instalment of the custom made floor-heating system minimizes the use of heat energy for avoiding the trouble of emptying drainage in cold regions. It was include air conditioning system and efficient in preventing fire, absorbing sound, and insulating heat and moisture

INTRO ABOUT THE HOUSE

Working with nature can be one of the most challenging things in constructing a non-urban residence. This spectacular spiralhouse by ARTechnic (Architect: Kotaro Ide / ARTechnic architects) weaves and flows organically within its forest setting but also stands out, a white concrete intrusion in its lush green surroundings. In short, it works in tension with the natural world, providing security for those within but also visual connection to the outside scenery.

Taking up the shape of nature, an amazing private villa was designed in the middle of the forest, surrounded by caves and rocks. As the name implies, SHELL has the shell shape with an upgraded feature as a warm and cozy shelter in the wilderness.

The Shell House takes on a j-shape which is raised above the ground by 1400 mm resulting in the floating masses. The villas simple creating a balance between The futuristic man-made structure and the environment which surrounds it. The entire project took more than 18 months to realize and two and a half years to complete

A large shell shaped structure finds itself in the middle of the woods. It is hard to determine what exactly the structure is, and unlike the surrounding caves and rocks, it clearly is not a part of nature nor is it a ruin. A frame, a shape, made at a completely different place for a completely different purpose. Within this shell shaped structure will one find floors constructed, wall separating spaces, and rooms furnished. The scenery conjures a SF film-like image, in which locals inhabit over an abandoned spacecraft. With time, trees start to grow encircling the spacecraft, harmonizing it into the landscape

TECHNICALLY SAYING
A frame a shape, made at a completely different place for a completely different purpose. Within shaped structure will one find floors constructed , wall separating spaces, and rooms furnished. The regions low temperatures and high humidity level makes for a harsh climate. As a result, many houses that take on traditional structures are decaying .Is it in sync with nature? Perhaps .But the whole idea of comfort seems to be put into question

For the house to be actually used, the ultimate attention was paid to its comfort and performance level. The central control system enables all mechanical and electrical equipments to be managed by three buttons. In addition, the biometrics lockage and security system will reduce anxiety and stress over house safety management. Assuming future interior and equipment maintenances (including the window sash)for continual use, the frame is completely separate. The building frame is assumed to assimilate with its surroundings with the passage of time. To provide efficiency during maintenance, the concrete was exposed, finished with a penetrative sealer for concretes.

The plan was to build the villa around the big fir tree as the center of the site, with a row of pine trees as the main view. Initially, it had planned to build a shell structure with three dimensionally curved surfaces, and the C shaped section was to surround the fir tree and the plan of the building resembled the letter J In addition, certain parts were planned to hold double volume space. so, the plan was revised down to a shell structure of two dimensionally curved surfaces. The J shaped structure is constructed by two different size oval cylindrical masses cut with curves. The straight part of J, a smaller mass connects to a curved part to J, a larger mass. The top of the oval shaped building wall thickens by 330mm and its width continuously increases up to 730mm at both sides to meet the structural requirements.

The free-curved lines appear on the edge, and the three dimensionally curved surface with a twist partly appears on the cut surfaces . However the entire structure was composed by two dimensionally curved surfaces. The floor is built 1400mm above the ground, with the lower half of the shell structure protruding greatly towards the outside, supporting the terrace of the same height.

Considering the often short and intermittent use of villas, the expanded hard urethane form has been installed to cover 60 mm of the interior wall of the oval cylinder, which will reduce thermal capacity. Often the type of finish seen on the back of panels, it is efficient in preventing fire, absorbing sound, and insulating heat and moisture. By dividing the oval section with a flat floor, a bow shaped space will appear on the bottom of the oval, which will serve as a heat chamber and be filled with pipes. Since the system first heats the plumbing space, and as a result, the antifreeze procedure run by dramatically reduced energy

The exterior curves of this remote retreat arc around a central tree which strong informs the space shaped in the interior courtyard area. While this curious form makes for an interesting visual object it also informs how people move in , through and around it in arcing, organic and naturalistic paths by the voids inside and out.

In some places, rectilinear design objects are set against the ever-present curves but they are still tucked within the overall rounded theme. The rounded shell itself provides protection from the elements for each interior space.

Each space flows into the next, with the common elements of White (for the shell and some furniture) and wood (for virtually everything else) tying the experience together. Likewise, natural ventilation carries throughout the whole house

VISULIZATION AT DAY & NIGHT

The shift from day to night in the structure is a remarkable one, as the ribbon of the building edge becomes a kind of border between the light glowing within and the ever-darkening surrounding skies and forest around.

The net result at night is a sense of comfort and enclosure a connection to the elements through a copious use of glass mitigated by a thick, wrapping exterior shell. All in all, the results are a blend of and completely contextual.
