Digestive system of man consists of two Parts:- 1. ALIMENTARY CANAL 2. DIGESTIVE GLANDS 1.ALIMENTARY CANAL: It is nearly a Nine metres long tube of varying diameter. It is formed of :- MOUTH is a transverse Slit like aperture, bounded by two lips BUCCAL CAVITY is the space bounded Dorsally by palate,ventrally by throat & latTerally by jaws having teeth.PHARYNX Is small sized conical part where food & air Passages cross each other.OESOPHAGUS Is a long tube which runs downwards & Opens into stomach.STOMACH is a J-shAped bag type muscular organ.The back Flow of food is prevented by sphincter Muscles of aperture. Middle part of stomach Is dome shaped.SMALL INTESTINE is About 6-7 metres long. Duodenum is a part Of it.LARGE INTESTINE is about 1-5 m Long,shorter but wider than small intestine. ANUS is the last part of alimantary canal. 2.DIGESTIVE GLANDS : are the organs Which secrete the digestive of food SALIVARY GLANDSare three pairs of Glands which secrete saliva in buccal cavity By salivary ducts.LIVER secretes bile juice PANCREAS is present in loop of duodanum& largest gland.GASTRIC GLANDS Present in the wall of the stomach.
