INTRODUCTION
Established in 1960 Provides training to;
PMD serving personnel Persons from other Government Organizations Defence Services (Army ,Air Force, Navy) Foreign Trainees

Aim:
To improve Weather services through

Education and Training.

Objects :
Provide in service training to new entrants and existing staff of the PMD and other requesters

in All fields of Meteorology ,like


Observational method, techniques & procedure in basic meteorology, Climatology, Met. instruments, weather forecasting etc.

Promote public awareness regarding meteorology.

METEOROLOGICAL TRAINING FACILITIES FOR NEIGHBOURING DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

In first phase of the project a training viz

Preliminary Meteorology Course of 18 weeks duration has been conducted at Institute of Meteorology & Geophysics from 25th February, 2008 to 28th June, 2008

10 Meteorological personnel, two from each following countries have attended the course 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Bangladesh Maldive Sri Lanka Nepal Bhutan

In second phase of the project, second Preliminary Meteorology Course has been conducted with effect from 20th March, 2009 to 23rd July, 2009.
