An Approach is a set of correlative assumptions
dealing with the nature of language teaching and
learning.

Method is an overall plan for the orderly presentation
of language material, no part of which contradicts, and
all of which is based upon, the selected approach.
.
A technique is implementation, that which actually
takes place in a classroom. It is a particular trick,
stratagem, or contrivance used to accomplish an
immediate objective.

According to Edward Anthony 1963 quoted in p.19, Richards, J. & Rodgers, T. Approaches & Methods in Language Teaching CUP 2001
Lewis
An approach is an integrated set of
theoretical and practical beliefs,
embodying both syllabus and method. it
involves principles which reflect the
nature of language itself and the nature of
learning. If syllabus is the what of
language teaching, and method the how,
approach is the why.

According to Lewis, M The Lexical Approach LTP 1993
Chris H
Teaching Approaches: Our own personal
philosophy of teaching.

Teaching Method: Refers to how we apply
our answers from the questions stated in
Teaching Approaches to our day to day
instruction in front of our students.

Teaching Techniques: These are the tricks we
all know and use to get the job done in the
classroom.

options to choose
We can choose methods and materials
according to the needs of learners, the
preferences of teachers, and the
constraints of the school or educational
setting
Conclusion

assumptions, thoughts, notions, and beliefs
concerning the nature of language

A method is an overall plan.

A technique is the implementation. Any exercise,
activities, and tasks in the classroom to meet the
objectives or goal of learning.

Approach, method, and technique are very important
