natural resource management and Livestock
Management and its guiding research strategy is to
attain scientific excellence and relevance in
agriculture focusing on key livelihood and income
opportunities to improve the well-being of the
farmers with equity, multidisciplinary, sustainability
and community participation as core principles.
It is to the credit of
SDAU that the Gujarat
State stands:

The first commercial hybrid of HB 2 was released in 1966 followed by a blockbuster hybrid HB 3 in 1968 A
number of hybrids were released since and the recent release hybrids have always been complemented by the
suitable agro production techniques and required physiological and plant protection studies

New Initiatives Taken

1. Development and Delivery System as well as IPR guidelines


for commercialization of SDAU Technologies/ product
processes.
2. A project on AgRIS for Banaskantha district in collaboration
with National Information Center (NIC), Government of India,
with financial support from the Ministry of Agriculture,
Government of India, New Delhi.
3. Implementation of “Mega Seed Project” including
infrastructure development for seeding and planting materials
at a cost of Rs 4.81 crores.
4. Raising fodder crops on 15% farm land for its own Dairy
Farm and another 25% of area to be brought under arid
horticulture, bio-diesel plantation and agro forestry.

MoU between S. D. Agricultural University and Jain High Tech
Agri-Institute, Jalgoan in the presence of Hon. Governor of
Gujarat, Shri Nawal Kishore Sharma on January 29, 2007.
Collaborative programmes will be taken up for development of
micro-irrigation systems, food processing and co-operation in post
graduate research in agriculture.
MoU between S. D. Agricultural University and Yes Bank,
New Delhi in the presence of Hon. Governor of Gujarat, Shri
Nawal Kishore Sharma on January 29, 2007. It is for public
private partnership for the development of High Tech
Horticultural Demonstration Park, establishment of fruits and
vegetables processing units and developments of Agri-tourism
