Basic Block of Power PBA

Ⅰ. Background of PDP TV

What is scaler ?
- CRT can do resolution conversion
but LCD and PDP do not conversion
- Accepting input images from multiple sources and displaying
them on any flat panel display
- Scaler is most important IC in flat panel display
Ⅰ. Background of PDP TV

Another components
1) Video Decoder
‣ For Multistandard color decoding : NTSC, PAL, SECAM, S-VHS, MPEG Decoder

2) Sound Processor
‣ Sound Processors covers the sound processing of all TV standards
‣ Balance, bass, treble, loudness, volume Control
‣ Process Nicam, FM Stereo, FM Mono

3) Power IC ( Small Power IC)

‣ Regulator

4) Etc.
‣ Switch, ADC, MPEG Decoder, Sound AMP(Analog and Digital)…
Ⅰ. Background of PDP TV

TV signal types
1. RF(Radio Frequency)
- 50~900Mz Frequency Domain
- Composite signal+sound signal
2. CVBS(Usually AV)
- Composite video and sound signal
3. Super VHS
- Separate Y and C from composite signal
4. RGB
- Usually use PC, 15pin D-sub
5. Analog Component (Y,Pb,Pr)
- Usually Component
6. Digital Component(Y,Cb,Cr)
7. DVI(Digital Visual Interface)
- Standard from DDWG(Digital Display Working Group)
- TMDS(Transition Minimized Differential Signaling Signal)

Ⅱ. Basic of Cadillac

Some Functions of Cadillac

A 7,000:1 contrast ratio produces dramatic

lights and darks that are perfectly able to
capture complex images such as sunlight
between clouds or light reflecting off bubbles.
7,000:1 contrast ration

1,200cd/m2 of brightness gives a crystal-

clear picture regardless of the lighting
conditions - so you’ll never have to close the
1,200 cd/m2
shades.
1,200 cd/m2 contrast ration
Ⅱ. Basic of Cadillac

Some Functions of Cadillac

 Automatic operation of noise reduction (Auto DNR)

It amplifies week signals, but decrease the noise sensitively

Week Signal Upgrading with LNA+

Ⅱ. Basic of STRAUSS

Some Functions of Cadillac

 Eliminating electronically charged residual image

Signal Pattern Process All White

 Keeping the image moving imperceptibility

Signal Definition
Name Function Description
TTL TTL status DC output TTL range
PS_ON is the signal for remote ON/OFF control.
Outputs (except STB_5V) shall be enabled with an active LOW ON 0.0V ~ 1.0V
PS_ON low, TTL compatible signal (PS_ON). Active Low
The STB_5V is on whenever AC power is present.
HIGH OFF 2.0V ~ 5.0V

Vs outputs shall be enabled with VS_ON signal (active

high) after Va output turned on. It’s to reduce the turn-on OFF
LOW 0.0V ~ 1.0V
inrush current to Vs output load. VS_ON signal come from (Vsx,Vsy)
VS_ON Logic board automatically after remote on (//PS_ON) with Active High
400 ~ 800mSec delay time. ON
