BADHIRIYA B.Ed TRAINING COLLEGE VELICHIKKALA SUBMITTED BY ANJU.S REGISTER NO:13392001 NATURAL SCIENCE PLANT DISEASES Fungi, viruses and bacteria were known till recently amongst the microorganisms that cause plant diseases. Diseased plants are distinguished by changes in their morphological structure or physiological process, which are brought by unfavourable environment or parasitic agencies. INTRODUCTION Different types of plant diseases 1. Little leaf of Brinjal. 2. Blast disease of Paddy. 3. Quick wilt of Pepper. 4. Leaf mosaic diseases of Tapioca. 5. Sigatoka leaf spot of Banana. LITTLE LEAF OF BRINJAL Causative organism:- The disease is caused by virus. Symptoms:- The very short leaves produced on the attached plants. The petiole become very much reduced and the leaves appear very close to the branches and stem. Controlling measures:- For controlling this disease, we sprayed neem kernal suspension. BLAST DISEASE OF PADDY Causative organism:- The disease is caused by bacteria. Symptoms:- The dark brown isolate, oval to eye shaped lesions on the upper surface of the leaves. Controlling measures:- For controlling this disease, we sprayed cowdung solution. QUICK WILT OF PEPPER Causative organism:- The disease is caused by phytophthora palmivora. Symptoms:- The leaf may fall and later often the entire branch may detach and fall. Controlling measures:- For controlling this disease, we sprayed tobacco decoction. LEAF MOSAIC DISEASE OF TAPIOCA Causative organism:- The disease is caused by tapioca mosaic virus Symptoms:- This disease is characterised by a mosaic pattern on leaves with light green, yellow or white spots or patches on the green background of the leaves. Controlling measures:- For controlling this disease, we sprayed Tobacco decoction. SIGATOKA LEAF SPOT OF BANANA Causative organism:- The causal organism of this disease is cercospora musae. Symptoms:- Dark brown to black coloured linear lesions appear on young leaves. Controlling measures:- For controlling this disease, we sprayed Bordeaux mixture. CONCLUSION Diseased plants are distinguished by change sin their morphological structures or physiological process , which are brought about by unfavorable environment or by parasitic agencies. In other words, plant disease is a pathological state, characterized by the physiological malfunctioning and the consequent morphological and anatomical abnormalities of plants, adversely affecting their growth, health, reproduction, longevity and economic value. It usually result from continuous irritation of plants.
