Organisations are becoming increasingly cosmopolitan. Though
they work together, they maintain their distinct identities, diverse
cultural moorings and separate life style. Organisation specialist
must learn to live with these diverse behaviour.
Managers must learn to respect diversity. Diversity , if positively
managed, can increase creativity and innovation in organisation
as well as improve decision making by providing different
perspectives on problems.
The major challenges from changing
demographics of work-force relates to dual-
career.

Organisation have been accustomed to using job
makes and physical relocations as important
means of development talent.
Men and women moving through organisational
ranks to upper level positions need experience in
a variety of roles in different organisational units.
Growing internationalisation of business has its impact on
people management. The management is required to cope
with problems of unfamiliar laws, language, practices,
competitors, attitudes, management styles, work ethics and
more. Personnel functions such as hiring, training,
maintaining and the like must acquire global perspective. To
face this challenge, the management must be flexible and
proactive.

Being flexible and proactive the management can make
significant contribution to the companys strategy on a
global scale, the management can become a source of
competitive advantage for the company.
In todays competitive environment, organisation
must foster innovation and manage change
successfully. Success comes to those organisations
that maintain their flexibility, continually improve
their quality and outbeat their competitors with
innovative products and services. Employees are
key to innovation and change. The challenge for
managers is to stimulate employee creativity and
tolerance for change. The field of OB provides
ideas and techniques to help realise these goals.
Managers and employees in todays organisation are
always under pressure to register increased
turnover, and strengthen bottom lines. They are
therefore, tempted to cut corners, bend rules and
resort to questionable practices.

The finding of KPMGs Fraud Survey for 1998 further
confirm the prevalance of white collar crimes in
corporate India. The survey has estimated the loss
at Rs.200 crores but KPMG feels that it is only the tip
of the iceberg. According to the study, 66 percent of
the respondents feel that the frauds will increase.
