Screen shot All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2006 4 | GSM-WiMax Network Engineering | June 2007 About Diamond Diamond is a tool built for Mobile networks with Alcatel-Lucent BSS equipment. It works across only B9 Release, including Maintenance Releases MR1 and MR4. From a structural perspective, Diamond provides three modules: Traffic Analysis Module. Diamond is a Traffic Follow-up Tool created to provide radio network engineers easy way of monitoring traffic on live EGPRS networks. Dimensioning Module. Diamond is a network dimensioning tool designed to evaluate infrastructure requirements according to observed traffic over each interface (Air, Abis, AterMux, Gb), including Location Area and GP/GPU. It works well as complementary with AMT (Architecture Management Tool). Estimation module. Diamond estimates the network infrastructure required to support specific load and options requirements for custom scenarios.

Importing Data Running TSL script on NPA or OMC-R (MPM). Script to retrieve a set of indicators/PM counters over 1 week from metrica database. Running steps: FTP the script in directory you can log on. Username: metrica Open the terminal window Make sure the script file is in unix format: file B9Dim_TSL_V8.tsl If the result is ascii text, then type: dos2unix B9Dim_TSL_V8.tsl B9Dim_TSL_V8.tsl Make sure the variables /alcatel/npr/tqlclients/bin and /alcatel/npr/tslserver/bin are in the path by typing: echo $path. If they are not pathed, type: set path = ($path /alcatel/npr/tqlclients, /alcatel/npr/tslserver/bin) Type command tsl -nowin B9Dim_TSL_V8.tsl Ouput results: to be found in the directory tmp. The file names are B9_File_01.txt, B9_File_02.txt,, B9_File_13.txt
Importing Data It will be replaced by a new script adapted to NPO for B10 All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2006 10 | GSM-WiMax Network Engineering | June 2007
Importing Data Running AMT script on OMC-R. Script to retrieve a set of configuration files. The only used is cell.csv file. Running steps Please visit AMT .NET website http://pcs.tm.alcatel.ro/amt for more details about the script.
Importing Data Checking retrieved files An utility tool could be given to end-users to check files (NULL values, missing values) If files are highly corrupted, please run the script again, or check related data on MPM/RNO.

Importing Data N.B: This tool might show all the files are in a right format, however, it doesnt mean that the number of measurements in each file is enough for the dimensioning. If the minimum measurement number per day is less than 12, a warning message box will pop-out. And if it is less than 5, user is suggested reloading the data.
Importing Data Checking retrieved files This tool is used to check: Wether the data files are empty. Wether the data files have any errors or not. Wether this file is empty. Wether the data values are NULL. Wether all the counters have the same sample number on the same day.

Building Project Available with the Project Manager in Diamond. The set of files obtained by running the scripts is processed by Diamond for delivering you a project, utilizing the project manager that store a database on a local server. This project is reusable as you want. Defining Parameters Diamond allows user to set the following parameters for dimensioning. Radio and configuration parameters Be aware that Radio parameters are only used if the values are not available at cell level. Dimensioning method in the toolbar Busy hour definition in the toolbar

Three methods are available: Extra-Bonus method: based on extra and bonus nibbles traffic at BTS level. GCH method : based on traffic carried over the GCHs at BTS level. (experimental) MCS method : based on Coding Schemes traffic at BTS level. Dimensioning methods Air dimensioning Estimate the number of TCHs, SDCCHs and TRXs. Based on Erlang B law to evaluate the number of SDCCHs channels. Based on Kaufman-Roberts algorithm is used evaluate the number of TCHs. Gb dimensioning Estimate the number of 64 kbps TS needed at Gb interface, for each PVC. Based on traffic observed at PVC level. Erlang C law is used to evaluate the number of required TS.
