Behaviour is the way a person acts or behaves
Character is a distinguishing feature or
attribute of an individual, group or category
Both behaviour and character can be
observed, measured and evaluated by other
people around them
RELEVANCE
So, in educational context, it is the teachers
responsibility to shape the students
behaviour and characteristics
In Islamic view, any shaping of students
behaviour and characteristics should be dealt
by the teacher so that the students can have
exemplary and acceptable conduct by the
people around them
APPLICATION
behaviour can be managed by applying a
number of techniques:
a) Personal tools
b) Preventives technique
c) Correction measure
APPLICATION
a) Personal tools
personal measurement
using physical proximity method
this method is done by the teacher where he
needs to approach his students who he thinks
that have behaviour problem
The teachers view either he feels fun, angry,
frustrated or hate
APPLICATION
a) Personal tools
using physical mobility method
Teacher walks in front, at the back and at the
sides of the class (around the class) while doing
surveillance
APPLICATION
b) Preventives technique
related to the prevention
Reduce tension between teacher and student
Through providing a positive climate and
conducive environment
Ex: asks the student to follow the classroom
routines

APPLICATION
c) Correction measure
teacher punish the students but use the
punishment that is well known and relevance
to the students
If the students still doing the same behaviour,
teacher can asks the student to meet him
after class
APPLICATION
Besides that, there are 3 basic things in the
management of student behaviour
a) Reinforcement
b) Punishment
c) Prompts
APPLICATION
a) Reinforcement
positive & negative
positive - presenting a motivating/reinforcing
stimulus to the person after the desired
behaviour is exhibited, making the behaviour
more likely to happen in the future
negative removing stimulus after a
particular behaviour is exhibited
APPLICATION
b) Punishment
Punishment refers to any change that occurs
after a behaviour that reduces the likelihood
that that behaviour will occur again in the
future. While positive and negative
reinforcement are used to increase
behaviours, punishment is focused on
reducing or eliminating unwanted behaviours.
APPLICATION
c) Prompts / encouragement
used to enhance the participation of
individuals to behave properly
Given before or during the conduct
