We left off learning how to find the
percent of a quantity.
For example: Of the 25 students in
VSC Math, 45 percent like fractions.
How many students in VSC Math like
fractions?
Second example: Students in VSC Math
got 80% of the questions correct on the
quiz. If they got 20 questions correct,
how many questions were on the quiz?
Third example: Students in VSC Math got
20% of the questions incorrect on the
quiz. If they got 10 questions incorrect,
how many questions were on the quiz?
Different Percent Questions 5 minutes
There are other types of percent questions
that are trickier. Lets try to solve some:
For example: 40 percent of the
students in Mr. Dunnes class like ice
cream. If 20 students like ice cream,
how many students are in Mr. Dunnes
class?
Second example: 20% of the students in
Mr. Es class prefer to play Wii U. If 15
students prefer to play Wii U, how many
students are in Mr. Es class?
Question: What do these questions require us to do
BEFORE we can find the percent?
