History
In 1969 the Cartagena agreement between Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia,
Colombia and Chile was signed.
Thus was launched the Andean Pact which then was renamed the
Andean Community. Venezuela joined in 1973 and in 1976 Chile
withdrew.
In the seventies the main institutions and organs of the community
formed.
In 1993, a free trade zone was formed between the countries of the CAN
In 2006 Venezuela withdrew
In 2007 it was agreed that member countries would help social, cultural,
environmental, commercial, politically and economically.
In 2011 he was advanced enough socially and gave a boost citizen
participation. They further project goals by 2019.

Organization
The Andean Community is made up of countries as well
as by the organs of institutions of the Andean Integration
System.
This is comprised of:
-Andean Presidential Council.
-Council of Foreign Ministers.
-Committee (composed of the Ministers of Commerce).
-Andean Parliament. General Secretariat (by executive)
-Business Advisory Council. Labour Advisory Council.
-Latin American Reserve Fund.
-Conventions.
-Simon Bolivar University.

Areas of Integration

The CAN has conducted a Trade Integration characterized by FTA,


Common External Tariff Rules of Origin, Competition, Standards,
Health Standards, Customs Instruments, Price Band, Automotive
Sector Liberalization of Trade in Services.
In the field of external relations, the CAN remains: negotiations
with MERCOSUR, with Panama, Central America and CARICOM;

Relations with the European Union, Canada and USA; Participate in the
FTA and the WTO; and all members have a common foreign policy.

Also, the agency has made great efforts to get a Physical Integration and
Border in transportation, infrastructure, telecommunications and border
development, and also a Cultural Integration and Social Education.
A Common Market, the CAN performs tasks: Macroeconomic Policy
Coordination, Intellectual Property, Investment, Government
Procurement and Common Agricultural Policy.

Symbol
The emblem depicts a rainbow depicted by the outer semicircle.
The broken lines of the two columns represent the platforms and the
stepped pyramids that are facing each other.
The gap in the middle is The hike and symbolizes balance.
