FALSE CEILING
Adropped ceilingis often a secondary ceiling, hung below the main (structural) ceiling. It may also be
referred to as adrop ceiling, false ceiling, orsuspended ceiling, and is a staple of modernconstruction
andarchitecture. The area above the dropped ceiling is called theplenum space, as it is sometimes used
forHVACair return. The plenum space is also very commonly used to concealpiping, wiring, and/or
ductwork.
A typical dropped ceiling consists of a grid-work of metal channels in the shape of an upside-down "T",
suspended on wires from the overhead structure. These channels snap together in a regularly spaced
pattern typically a 22 or 24 foot grid in theUS, or 600600mm grid in Europe (this is the modular size
of the grid, the tiles are actually 595mm x 595mm or 595mm x 1195mm). Each cell is filled with lightweight
"tiles"[2]or "panels" which simply drop into the grid. Tiles can be selected with a variety of materials,
including wood, metal, plastic, or mineral fibres, and can come in almost any color.Light fixtures, HVAC air
grilles, and other fixtures are available which can fit the same space as a tile for easy installation. Most
tile material is easily cut to allow fixtures in other shapes, such asincandescent lights, speakers, and
fire sprinklerheads. The suspended ceiling was originally developed to conceal the underside of the floor
above and to offer acoustic balance and control in a room. The acoustic performance of suspended ceilings
has improved dramatically over the years, with enhanced soundabsorptionandattenuation. This is
sometimes achieved by addinginsulationknown as Sound Attenuation Batts (SABs), more commonly
referred to as "sound batts", above the panels to help deaden sounds and keep adjacent rooms quieter.
The dropped ceiling was invented byDonald A. BrownofWestlake, Ohio, who was claimed by some to having
cornered the entire market on dropped ceilings.
GALVALUME SHEET
Galvalume (Also known as Zincalume) is an alloy consisting of
55% Aluminium and 43.5% Zinc (by weight). It is special
alloy which has been developed after years of research
internationally. Steel when coated with Galvalume lasts
longer because it get the Barrier Protection of Aluminium
and Sacrificial Properties of Zinc.
Galvalume Coated steel is used directly for roofing, known
as Bare Galvalume Steel Roofing Sheet and when it is paint
coated it is known as PPGL Prepainted Steel Roofing
Sheets. It is characterised by:
- High Strength Base Steel
- Special Pre-treatment for longer life and paint coating
- Light Weight Coating Galvalume 55% Aluminium Zinc Alloy
- Option of Various Colours / Finishes
- Highly effective in withstanding extreme weather
conditions
KITCHEN EQUIPMENTS
