Automated Teller
Machine(ATM)
Acomputerized
devicethatprovides customers
with access to financial
transaction in a public space
without the need for a human
clerk and bank.
On most modern ATMs , customer
identified by inserting a plastic
ATM card.
Security is provided by the
customer entering a personal
identification number(PIN)

Using fingerprint recognition

system for ATM system
Managing security of
ATM is challenging
task.
Achieved only by
increasing the levels of
protection of the
system.
Can be done with the
help of a fingerprint
identification system
developed in this
project.

Why Fingerprints?
Easy to use.
Quite reliable
technique.
Most mature
technology
Acceptedall over
the world.

Microcontroller
Basic controlling unit.

microcontroller by
Philips used.
The P89V51RD2 is an
80C51 microcontroller
with 64 kB Flash and
1kB of RAM.
Programmed using
Keil
and Flash Magic in
ISP mode.

Fingerprint Scanner
Used to scan the
fingerprint image and
store the template.
Also matches the
fingerprint with the
already stored template.
Here R303A Series
fingerprint
identification module is
used.
MAX-232 used for
interfacing.

Liquid Crystal Display

LCD (Liquid Crystal
Display) screen is an
electronic display module
and find a wide range of
applications.
A 16x2 LCD display is
very basic module and is
very commonly used in
various devices and
circuits

Buzzer
Anaudiosignalling
device, which may
bemechanical,ele
ctr-omechanical,
orpiezoelectric.
Would be used to
alert about an
unauthenticated
person.

Stepper Motor

ADC electric
motorthat divides a full
rotation into a number of
equal steps. The motor's
position can then be
commanded to move
and hold at one of these
steps without any
feedback sensor, as long
as the motor is carefully
sized to the application.

Here it is used to
simulate the
mechanical operation
of ATM.

Power Supply
+5V power supply for
microcontroller.

Software Concepts
Programming Language :Embedded
C
Keil Software used to compile the C
program to generate HEX file.
The HEX file generated is burned into
the microcontroller using Flash Magic
by ESA.

Operation
Enter the fingerprints.
Enter the password if
fingerprint matches(try
again if doesnt
match).
If the password
matches,user allowed
to complete
transaction otherwise
Buzzer is sounded to
indicate that user is
not authentic.

Conclusion
Using the fingerprint technique,the
security of ATM transactions can be
greatly enhanced.
Moreover, there is no need to carry
ATM card and thus transaction
doesnt depend on the availability of
ATM card.
System can be further developed in
