Status of weaker section in India

The members of these groups face systemic violence in the form of


denial of access to land, good housing, education and employment.
Structural discrimination against these groups takes place in the
form of physical, psychological, emotional and cultural abuse which
receives legitimacy from the social structure and the social system

In the Constitution of India, the three pillars of human
rights are (a) the right to equality including the
prohibition of discrimination in any form, (b) the six
vital freedoms of citizens (including the right to
speech and expression) and (c) the right to life
guaranteed to all persons.

Article 46 under the Directive Principles of State Policy provides that
The State shall promote with special care, the educational and
economic interest of weaker sections of the people and particular of
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and shall protect them social
injustice and all forms of exploitation.
Article 366(24) defines Scheduled Castes and Article 34 identifies the
process through which such groups will be identified. Similar provisions
have been made for Scheduled Tribes in Article 366(25) and Article
342 respectively. Social safeguards are contained in Article 17, 23, 24
and 25(2) (b) of the constitution. As per Article 17, untouchability is
abolished and its practice in any form is forbidden.

information technology with a view to enabling them to get self employment job

National Curriculum Framework (2005) expresses its serious concern over the
persistence of stereotypes towards children from marginalized groups, including
Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST),

Conclusion
Social empowerment Efforts shall be made to remove
existing inequalities besides providing access to basic
minimum services by focusing on education, health etc.
Economic Empowerment Promotion of employment
opportunities as well as income generation activities.
Social justice or social inclusion Elimination of all types of
discrimination, awareness creation and change in mind set of
the people.
Social inclusion aims to empower poor and marginalized
people to take advantage of burgeoning global opportunities.
It ensures that people have a voice in decisions which affect
their lives and that they enjoy equal access to markets,
services and political, social and physical space
