both at home and in society. Womens employment has

some positive things those are helping them to focus on
their career. In our presentation we will focus on both the

BALANCES WITH JOB AND FAMILY RESPONSIBILITY

Family and work balance is a complex issue that

involves financial roles, career paths, time
management and many other factors.
To balance job and family responsibility together
is really a hard task.
To assume that if another person engages in job it
increases the income level and living standard of
the family.
Silent competition from the same level colleagues
and also the advise from the family to be present
at home at a specific time.

TRANSPORTATION ISSUE

Transportation issue is a major challenge for the

working women.
The allocation of seats for women in public
transport is really insignificant in numbers which
increases the hassles of female passengers to
avail public transport.
Working in any kind of private organization, it
takes long hours to finish work, and if female
employees do not have their own transport then
it becomes really hard for them to maintain their
job properly.

UNEQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

To engage in economic activity of earning a

livelihood as much as men but they have unequal
opportunities in both personal and career
development because men still hold a different
attitude towards womens employment.
Many job conditions which include heavy
workload demands, job insecurity, poor
relationships with co-workers and supervisors,
and work that are narrow, repetitive,
monotonous, and contribute to stress among
women.

THE MAJOR FORMS OF CULTURAL

STEREOTYPES

Womens primary responsibility is to take care of

the family and children, and it is only a
secondary obligation to get involved in work.
Women lack experience and thus are not capable
of assuming leadership positions.
The public domain is mainly for men, while the
private household domain is for women.
Womens involvement in the public sphere should
be an extension of their roles in the family
sphere.

IN-LAWS PROBLEM

When a woman gets married, typically she has

less support while participating in job.

For employed mother, if there is no reliable one

to look after their children, they become more
tensed thus it effects their mental peace at
home and work.

WORKPLACE SECURITY

Heavy workload demands; little control over

work; role ambiguity and conflict; job
insecurity; poor relationships with co-workers.

CHALLENGES COMING FROM

HOME
In

90s it was accustomed that when a girl

passes her matriculation she was used to
get married by the enforcement of her
parents. The close relatives they get
concerned about a girls future thus they
insist on the head of the family to get his
daughter married at an earlier age

SEXUAL HARASSMENT BY HIGHER LEVEL BOSSES

Sometimes it is seen that women at work level got

attacked by the senior level bosses thus they should
always be aware of this kind of person.
Counterpart challenges within the organization

It has been seen that in public or private organization

female faces challenges in comparison with their male
participants at work. If a women performs exceptionally
well her achievements are not recognized same like men

HUSBAND FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN

EMPLOYED WIFE EARNS MORE

Normally in our culture it has been seen that women

does all the household chores and husbands were the
main bread earners, so when a husband sees that his
wife is earning more than him it creates an ego problem
for him.

WOMEN IN BANGLADESH

Womens participation in different cadre services is increasing day

by day. Since 1982 females have participated in the BCS
examination and have been recruited in all cadre services
regularly. In 1976 women constituted about 7 percent of the total
public service employment and after the introduction of women
quota in1976, women constituted around 8 percent of the total
employment strength until 1985. In 1994, it was around 9 percent
and in 2001 it was 11 percent and in 2008 it was 19 percent. So
the statistics show that there is a slow and gradual increase of
womens participation during the last 30 years. In the case of
Bangladesh the quotas for women existed since 1976, but were
fully effective after 1980. Women participation is increasing in
the government services but very slowly. In 2008, womens
percentage in the government service was total of 18.86%.But we
can assume that the majority are from the Administrative cadre as
they dominate the bureaucracy of Bangladesh.

BEST JOBS FOR WOMEN IN

BANGLADESH

We found that Women in Bangladesh can go Medical

or Education profession. Women doctors can work in
many areas in Bangladesh; there are govt. and
private hospitals and clinics. also they can do private
practice. it is most secure job for women. Because
there is always demand for a good doctor. The job in
education sector like teaching profession is also safe
and noble profession for women. The jobs in
Government offices also a good option for women.
Bangladesh Government has special quota for women
in Government jobs. Self-employment is also a good
option can start a business company like fashion
house, food shop, restaurants etc.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion it can be said that though the

standard of living is increasing but the
factual aftermaths like reducing social
values, cultural norms, divorce rate are
increasing at a significant rate which is an
alarming siren for the upcoming future
generation whether to be a successful senior
level executive or not. So women in current
situation cannot reach the top in general.
