GuruDev Ravinder

Nath Tagore
Shradhanjali

Ekla Chalo Re
Tagore's English translation
If they answer not to thy call walk alone,
If they are afraid and cower mutely facing the wall,
O thou of evil luck,
open thy mind and speak out alone.
If they turn away, and desert you when crossing the wilderness,
O thou of evil luck,
trample the thorns under thy tread,
and along the blood-lined track travel alone.
If they do not hold up the light when the night is troubled with
storm,
O thou of evil luck,
with the thunder flame of pain ignite thy own heart
and let it burn alone.

GuruDev on Creativity
Civility is a beauty of behavior . Requires
perfection ,patience ,self control and an
environment of leisure. Its a harmonious
blending of voice, gesture and movement,
words and actions, in which generosity of
conduct is expressed. It reveals the man
himself and has no ulterior purpose

GuruDev on Truth
The quality of the infinite is not the magnitude
of extension ,it is in the advaitam, the mystery
of unity. Fact occupy endless time and space;
but the truth comprehending them all has no
dimension; it is one . Wherever our heart
touches the one, in the small or the big, it
finds the touch of the infinite

GuruDev on Attitude
We stand before this great world. The truth of
our life depends upon our attitude of mind
towards it an attitude which is formed by
our habit of dealing with it according to the
special circumstance of our surrounding and
our temperaments. It guides our attempts to
establish relation with the universe either
through that of sympathy or cultivation of
power via principle of dualism or principle of
unity

GuruDev on Contrary Wisdom

In our Mythology ,character of two eminent sages
namely Viswamitra and Vasishtha has been described .
Both were great but they represented two different types
of wisdom.Viswamitra sought to achieve power and was
proud of it ; Vashishtha was rudely smitten by that power
, but kept his hurt , rose above them and forgive. Lord
Rama, had his initiation to the spiritual life from
Vashishtha, the life of inner peace and perfection. And
had his initiation to war from Vishwamitra, who called
him to kill the demons and equipped him with irrestible
weapons
Those two sages symbolize in themselves the two
guiding spirits of civilization. Creation is the HARMONY
of contrary forces the forces of attraction/repulsion

GuruDev on Lord Buddha

In historical times the Buddha comes first of those
who-declared salvation to all men. It was the unique
significance of the event, when a man came to men
and said to them, I am here to emancipate you from
the miseries of thraldom of self. This wisdom came,
neither in texts of scriptures, nor in symbols of
deities , nor in religious practices sanctified by ages,
but through the VOICE of living man and the LOVE
that flowed from a Human Heart

GuruDev on Freedom
When freedom is not an inner idea which
imparts strength to our activities and breadths
to our creations, when it is merely a thing of
external circumstances, it is like an open
space to one who is blind folded

GuruDev on Crowd Psychology

Like steam and other physical forces ,it can
be utilized for creating a tremendous amount
of power.Leaders, who, out of greed and fear,
are bent upon turning their peoples into
machines of power, try to train this crowd
psychology for their special purposes. They
hold it to be their duty to foster in the popular
mind universal panic, unreasoning pride in
their own race ,and hatred of others.

GuruDev on Nationalism
Our real problem in India is not political but it is
social. We are imitating west but we have to
remember in west ,peoples had their racial unity
from the beginning ,and where natural resources
were insufficient for the inhabitants, the civilization
has naturally taken on the character of political and
commercial aggressiveness
But since the earliest beginnings in India, we are
constantly facing problem its the RACE problem.
Each nation must be conscious of its mission, and
we in INDIA must realize that we have not yet been
finally able to accomplish what was set before us by
our providence

Gitanjali

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by
narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the
dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought
and action
Into that heaven of freedom , my father ,let my country AWAKE.

Gitanjali

Day after day,O lord of my life, shall I stand before

thee face to face.
With folded hands-O lord of all worlds, shall I stand
before thee face to face .
Under thy great sky in solitude and silence, with
humble heart shall I stand before thee face to face.
In this laborious world of thine, tumultuous with toil
and with struggle, among hurrying crowds shall I
stand before thee face to face
And when my work shall be done in this world,0 king
of kings, alone and speechless shall I stand before
thee face to face

Gitanjali

I came out alone on my way to my tryst, but who is

this that follows me in the silent dark?
I move aside to avoid his presence but I escape him
not.
He makes the dust rise from the earth with his
swagger ,he adds his loud voice to every word that I
utter.
He is my own little self, my lord, he knows no shame
;but I am ashamed to come to thy door in his
company

Gitanjali

Obstinate are the trammels, but my heart aches

when I try to break them.
Freedom is all I want, but to hope for it I fell
ashamed.
I am certain that priceless wealth is in thee, and that
thou art my best friend, but I have not the heart to
sweep away the tinsel that fills my room.
The shroud that covers me is a shroud of dust and
death ;I hate it, yet hug it in love.
My doubts are large ,my failures great, my shame
secret and heavy; yet when I come to ask for my
good, I quake in fear lest my prayer be granted.

Gitanjali

Life of my life, I shall ever try to keep my body pure,

knowing that thy living touch is upon all my limbs.
I shall ever try to keep all untruths out from my
thoughts ,knowing that thou art that truth which has
kindled the light of reason in my mind.
I shall ever try to drive all evils away from my heart
and keep my love in flower, knowing that thou hast
thy seat in the inmost shrine of my heart.
And it shall be my Endeavour to reveal thee in my
actions, knowing it is thy power gives me strength to
act.

Gitanjali

Thou hast made me endless, such is thy pleasure.

this frail vessel thou emptiest again and again ,and
fillest it ever with fresh life.
This little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills
and dales, and hast breathed through it melodies
eternally new.
At the immortal touch of thy hands my little heart
loses its limits in joy and gives birth to utterance
ineffable.
Thy infinite gifts come to me only on these very
small hands of mine. Ages pass, and still thou
pourest, and still there is room to fill.

Thank You !!!`
