INTRODUCTION
The ACD is a Train Collision prevention system
patented by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited.
ACDs have knowledge embedded intelligence
It takes inputs from GPS satellite system for position
updates to take decisions for timely auto-application of
brakes to prevent dangerous 'collisions', thus forming a
Raksha Kavach.
ACDs fitted (both in Locomotive and Guard's Van of a
train) act as a watchdog.
Loco ACD of a train also applies brakes to reduce the
train speed either to 15 km/h .
3
DEFINITION
The anti collision device is an electronic
device to ensure the safety and proper
operation of the trains in order to avoid
the risk of dangerous and unexpected
collisions of the trains which may be
caused due to human errors and
equipment failures.
NEED OF A.C.D.
The ACD will automatically regulate the train's
speed.
It can also detect when the bogies of atrainfrom an
adjacent track derail on to atrain's.
The ACDs automatically apply the
brakes, bringing both the trains to a halt
without the intervention of the driver.
It can also detect when the bogies of
atrainfrom an adjacent track.

Features of ACD
Anti lock braking system(ABS)-improve steer
ability and hasten deceleration.
Traction control system-(TCS)-improving overall
vehicle control.
Enhanced stability control(ESC)-prevention of
de-alignment.
Latest technology used.

Applications
It prevents collisions.
It decreases the timing between two
consecutive trains running one after another.
Used in heavy vehicles like cranes,
earthmovers etc .
To prevent accidents and for their safe
working in public places.
Used as a tracking device.
