LFA SELF-LEARNING FUNCTION

NEW BTSR Patent

- SMART MATRIX FEEDER & ULTRAFEEDER -

By BTSR Marketing Dept., January 2008

LFA SELF LEARNING FUNCTION

WHAT IS L.F.A. ?
Length of the Fed Absorbed Yarn
The linear quantity of yarn absorbed on a single feed
of a textile machine by machine revolution / item produced

WHAT IS BTSR LFA FUNCTION ?

is a special AUTOMATIC Function developed by BTSR featuring
1.

Yarn Consumption Self-learning

(on each single feed, during a first sample cycle)

1
SELF-LEARNING

2.

Yarn Consumption Control and Comparison

(Detected Value vs. Learnt Value)

3.

Yarn Absorption Compensation & Adjustment

(on following working cycle, on each single feed)

4.

Machine Stop
(if % tolerance limits are exceed during STEP 2)

LFA SELF LEARNING FUNCTION

WHICH BTSR SOLUTION FEATURES LFA FUNCTION ?

LFA Function
is available on

SMART MATRIX FEEDER On-board Terminals

connected to

a number of ULTRAFEEDER Feeding Devices

installed on the textile Machine

LFA SELF LEARNING FUNCTION

WHICH TEXTILE MACHINE ?

Circular Knitting and Hosiery Processes

- Circular Knitting Machines
(socks, hosiery, seamless, medical)
- Large Diameter Circular Machines

Flat Knitting Processes

Flat knitting and Warp Knitting Machines

Narrow Fabric Looms

Warp Knitting, Raschel Machines

LFA SELF LEARNING FUNCTION

WHY IS IMPORTANT
TO MONITOR, CONTROL & ADJUST LFA ?
1.

Yarn Tension and Yarn Consumption working values (and their

combination) on each single feed of textile processes influence
the quality of the fabric

2.

Incorrect values or undesired variations of set values can bring

product defects (i.e. stripes,..), second rate production, yarn
breakages, machine stops

BTSR LFA FUNCTION BENEFITS

A.
B.
C.

Prevent Yarn Breakages

Increase Production Efficiency
Ensure Top Quality Products

Circular Socks / Pantyhose Machines, Seamless, Knitting Machines

OPERATIONAL STEPS
1
SELF-LEARNING
Self-Learning
the amount of yarn fed
during a first sample cycle
on single feeds

CONTROL &
COMPARISON

MACHINE STOP

Automatic Periodic
Control and Comparison
At the end of cycle or at
intermediate points within the cycle
check the detected LFA value,
comparing it with the learnt LFA
value on the individual feeds

Machine stop
At the end of cycle or at
intermediate points within cycle)
in case of differences between
the LFA Learnt and Detected
values (exceeding the set %
tolerance).

LFA SELF LEARNING FUNCTION

WHY LFA COMPENSATION IS STRATEGIC ?

1.

Knitting Machinery Evolution

2.

Higher gauges
Higher number of needles
Smaller-sized dimension needles
Smaller-sized dimension stitch loops

Environment conditions such as accumulation of dirtiness inside the

yarn-guide, temperature changes, temperature differences between
cold and warm machines, etc., can cause needles / stitch loops
variations, thus influencing the amount of yarn adsorbed and then
product quality (i.e stripes,..)

LFA SELF LEARNING FUNCTION

HOW BTSR LFA COMPENSATION WORKS ?
Example 1 - Accumulation of dirtiness inside the yarn-guide
Working tension can get higher during the process --- > yarn consumption increases
--- > LFA Detected Value < LFA Learnt Value
BTSR Compensation System action
During the following cycle, it decreases by 0.1 g. the value of working tension,
in order to compensate and resume the working tension at the Learnt value

Example 2 - Machine operating temperature increase

Yarn consumption can get higher during the process
--- > LFA Detected Value > LFA Learnt Value
BTSR Compensation System action
During the following cycle, it increases by 0.1 g. the value of working tension, in order to
to compensate and resume the working tension at the Learnt value

2
SEAMLESS LFA

- Operational Steps 1 SELF-LEARNING

The system automatically learns the amount of yarn
adsorbed during a first sample cycle on single feeds
2 AUTOMATIC CHECK
at the end of each cycle, the detected LFA value is
compared with the learnt LFA value on the
individual feeds

3 COMPENSATION
at the end of every cycle, compensation of possible
differences* between Detected LFA value
and Learnt LFA value on the individual feeds, by
increasing / decreasing by 0.1 g. the processing
tension on the feed (ULTRAFEEDER), where such
differences have been detected

KNIT LFA
PRELIMINARY REMARK
ON KNITTING MACHINES
ALL THE FEEDS SHOULD CONSUME THE SAME AMOUNT OF YARN

SELF-LEARNING STEP - Ideal Value Setting 1a) Average Value Automatic Calculation
The system automatically measures the amount of yarn absorbed by all connected
devices and calculates the average value absorbed by every ULTRAFEEDER device
during each machine revolution.

1b) Set Ideal Value

Such value can be changed by the operator, in order to obtain the LFA Ideal Value,
for each specific application.

KNIT LFA

- Operational Steps 1 SELF-LEARNING

Yarn Consumption Average Value automatic learning
and Ideal Value setting

2 AUTOMATIC CHECK & COMPARISON

at the end of each machine revolution cycle
(or multiples), the detected LFA value on single feeds
is compared, with the learnt Ideal Value
3 COMPENSATION
at the end of each machine revolution (or multiples),
compensation of possible differences between
Detected and Ideal LFA values on the individual
feeds, by increasing / decreasing by 0.1 gr. the
processing tension on the feed (ULTRAFEEDER),
where such differences have been detected
