Endometrium
1. The endometrium is
the mucous membrane
that lines the inside of
the uterus (womb).
2. The endometrium
changes throughout
the menstrual cycle.
3. It becomes thick and
rich with blood vessels
to prepare for
pregnancy.
4. If the woman does not
get pregnant, part of
the endometrium is
shed, causing
menstrual bleeding.
Introduction
Cyclical changes in the endometrium prepare
for implantation in the event of fertilization and
necessitate menstruation in the absence of
fertilization.
