Music magazines Bauer own/Genre/price!

• Mojo- Classic Rock-£
• Kerrang-Heavy rock/metal- £2.20
• Q-Heavy rock/metal-

Bauer cater more for a niche audience. This because of magazines like Kerrang who are
aimed at people aged 15-25 who are into their heavy rock and metal music for
example, Slipknot and Greenday. Mojo magazine focuses more on classic rock for
example, Bob Dylan. Mojo’s target audience is people aged 30+. This is because
older people tent to be more into their classic rock rather then music of today. Q
magazine is similar to Kerrang and it focuses on heavy rock/metal music as well as
artists like Lilly Alan. Q target audience is people aged 15-30 again. Most music
magazines are aimed at both men and women but due to contents and colours of the
music magazines, they are aimed more at men than at women and are read by men
more then women.
Kerrang targets its audience by the images and articles that
Appear in Kerrang. Kerrang concentrates on heavy rock/metal
Bands such as Lost prophets, Greenday, Marilyn Manson,
Alice in chains etc. Kerrang keeps their audience interested by
having articles and reviews in about bands, gigs and festivals.
Every week, Kerrang magazine has a big focus on a different
Band each week and has either one or two double page spreads
about the band. Kerrang also comes with free posters, and they
are sometimes poster specials for example, you will get
different posters of a gig/festival like Download or Leeds.
Kerrang also has a lot of competitions. Every now and then,
Kerrang will have a special issue which is completely devoted
to a certain band. Kerrang also targets it’s audience by adverting
Upcoming tours and festivals.

MoJo target its audience by concentrating on classic rock for

Example, Boy Dylan, Pink Floyd, Guns and roses etc. MoJo
Targets its audience having more articles in then it does
with reviews of gig and festivals. MoJo had a lot of artistes that you
would consider older and more Wiser then what appears in Kerrang.
There isn’t as much going on, on the front cover of MoJo. Kerrang
comes with posters for their audience where as MoJo
comes with free CD’s for their audience.
Q is very similar to Kerrang and it concentrates on heavy
Rock/metal music but also focuses on artists like Lilly Allen and
Madonna. Q magazine is aimed at people aged 15-30. Slightly
Older age group compared to Kerrang. Q targets
Its audience by having more articles about bands,
like MoJo. This is because older People would rather read
about the actual band rather then reviews about gigs or festivals.
Also, the images that are use, again the bands in the images
look more older and wiser and don’t have images life gigs or
festival. Again, the front cover of Q isn’t too busy and it gets
straight to the point.
