DEFINITION
An imbalance of power:
Kids who bully use power physical strength,
access to embarrassing information, or
popularity to control or harm others.
Repetition: Tend to happen more than once.

Includes actions such as spreading rumours,


physical or verbal attacks and making threats

TYPES OF BULLY

Verbal bully : Teasing, name-calling,


inappropriate sexual comments, taunting and
threatening to cause harm
Social bully: leaving someone out of the
group on purpose, telling other children not
to be friends with someone, spreading
rumours, embarrassing someone in public
Physical bully: kicking, punching, spitting,
making mean or rude gestures

behaviour which can be precedence for other

effects can be minimized.

Create a safe and supportive environment


Establish

a culture of inclusion and respect that


welcomes all students.
Set a tone of respect in the classroom.

Manage classrooms to prevent bullying


Develop

rules with students so they set their own


climate of respect and responsibility, and
reinforce the rules by making expectations clear
and keeping requests simple, direct and specific.
