SOPL SCM Migration Process step

1. Analyze the SOPL
2. Identify the Keywords
3. Draw SOPL equivalent Flowchart
4. Review the Flowchart and baseline
5. Generate the SCM equivalent to SOPL

VLR_CALC CAB Getting started

We shall create a CAB block, and place it in a test system.

sensed
values &
constants
CAB is generic
CAB blocks are always generic.
Unlike some forms of CL,
specific point names are never
directly used in CAB code. The
connections to specific point
names are made when a CAB
block is configured.

VLR_CALC

vapor/liquid
ratio

Our steps:
Create a CAB type.
Copy in the CL code as comment
code.
Create the inputs and outputs.
Create the CAB code.
Instantiate the CAB type as a part of
a test Control Module.

39

VLR_CALC CAB Creating a CAB type

From Control Builder, using File->New->Type->Custom Algorithm
Block, we get the dialog below, and create a CAB named VLR_CALC
and put it in the library FRACT.

40

VLR_CALC CAB Inputs and Outputs

The CL
EXTERNAL
statement, and the
PVCALC
parameter, are the
I/O. We are also
going to enable perinstance
configuration of the
heat capacity and
the heat of
vaporization.
We click on the
Parameter
Definition Editor
tab to define these
parameters.
41

VLR_CALC CAB PDE

Using PDE, we define
the parameters:
CP & LAMBDA are
constants, and we
marked them as load
to enable
configuration.
PVCALC is output.
The rest are input.

42

VLR_CALC CAB Creating the CAB code

Now we translate from
the CL language
constructs to MS
Visual Basic.
MS Visual Studio
has many modern
assists for the
coder, and a great
debugger, come to
the demo room for
more details

43

VLR_CALC CAB Function Block Config.

VLR_CALCA is like
any other function
block. Here we are
configuring the pin
arrangements for
inputs and output,
and the faceplate
configuration
parameters.

44

VLR_CALC CAB Function Block Config.

VLR_CALCA is ready
for use, in the
CM_VLRATIO
Control Module. It
receives input (in
this case from
numerics), and
produces output to
be used as the PV in
a PID algorithm.
