MENTORING
Less about seniority and teaching
and more about sharing and
developing the protge.
Supporting the all-around growth
and development of the protge.
Not just enabling them better at
their job.
Not simply pairing a new teacher
with a veteran who can show him

MENTORING
Different from coaching
- Coaching is guiding and training
Is a relationship rather than an
activity
It needs a commitment
It is a protected relationship in
which learning and
experimentation can occur
Potential skills can be developed
MENTORING
Results can be measured in terms
of competencies gained
It focused in real learning needs in
a specific and resound personal
level
The more organized and structured
we make monitoring, the less likely
it works
Sometimes you get stuck in
guidelines and mentoring gets lost.

Maintaining Relationship
Quality
With
the
mentoring
relationship being dynamic
and therefore creating a great
deal of variation in how
individuals approach their
roles; however, there are
certain factors that will affect
the quality of the relationship.
Evolution of
Relationship
There should be
Phase 4: Winding Up
This occurs when the mentee has achieved
a large amount of his or her goals. The mentee
begins to plan how to continue the journey on
his or her own. This helps avoid unhealthy
dependency on either individuals part. Winding
up by celebrating the accomplishments is much
better than winding down/drifting apart.
Phase 5: Moving On
This is about changing the relationship,
often into a friendship where both parties can
utilize each other as an ad hoc sounding board.
Learning Conversation
