 THE SOLUTION
 A Fiber Optic Perimeter Detection System
• Intrinsically safe – passive fiber optic sensor is inert to explosive environments
• Sensing Cable is unaffected by RFI and EMI – strong electrical fields will not alter the
performance of the cable
• Highly programmable – ensures good system performance even in harsh environments

How the Sensor Works…
Fiber Optics

Functional Overview
Fiber optic sensing cable
is glass.
Inner conductor,
called the core,
conducts light

If the fiber optic cable is

disturbed, the pattern of
conducted light changes.
Sensitivity to motion,
vibration, or pressure
The propagation of
light through the
fiber is altered
Product Deployment Options
The sensing
cable can
be deployed
along a fence
or buried under
Gravel to provide
an invisible
detection zone
Fence Monitoring System

Benefits of a high-end
sensor without the
complexity.
Commercial product
Typical applications:
Utilities: power
substations, water
Fleet parking lots
and car lots
RV / Self storage

Configuration
Software Driven
APU Modeler for simulating parameter changes to eliminate
nuisance alarms
Wind Rejection Software the wind rejection software. When
enabled, the APU continually monitors the effects of wind
on the cable and compensates for it based upon the
detected load and the wind rejection value The highest
allowable frequency used by the processor to evaluate the
presence of an intruder. This may be set to eliminate
higher order frequencies caused by nuisances such as
natural bending of the fence fabric in wind
Intrusion Detection System
 Specifically designed for fences

 Built-in wind compensation adapts to varying weather installations

 Economical, most cost-efficient of the Fiber Solution
 Resistant to EMI/RFI

 APU Modeler for simulating parameter changes to eliminate nuisance alarms

 Full-page parameter editor for viewing APU parameters
 Single or Dual-Zone
 Supports up to 5km sensing cable or the FD-208 Remote mounting of the
electronics up to 20 km from the fiber-optic sensing zone.

 Remote sensing zone (FD-340)

 Fence or buried applications
 On-board spectral data files
