Hyang-Soo Kim initially incorporated the company in Korea


as Anam Industrial Co., Ltd in 1956.

Its former name Anam means A (asia) and nam (south)

Amkor Technology Philippines was established in 1968

SEC. 13. Emission Charge System.


The

Department shall impose on and collect regular


emission fees from dischargers as part of the emission
permitting system. The system shall encourage the
industries and motor vehicles to abate, reduce, or
prevent pollution.

SEC. 16. Permits.


The

Department shall have the authority to issue


permits as it may determine necessary for the
prevention and abatement of air pollution.

Department may allow each regional industrial


center that is designated as special airshed to allocate
emission quotas to pollution sources within its

person owning, operating or conducting a


commercial establishment in the country shall sell or

or packaged in or on packaging which is not
environmentally acceptable packaging.

SEC. 47. Authority to Collect Solid Waste Management


Fees.
The

local government unit shall impose fees in amounts


sufficient to pay the costs of preparing, adopting, and
implementing a solid waste management plan prepared
pursuant to this Act. The fees shall be based on the
following minimum factors:

(a) types of solid waste;

(b) amount/volume of waste; and

(c) distance of the transfer station to the waste management facility.

storage, importation, or bringing into Philippines
territory, including its maritime economic zones, even
in transit, either by means of land, air or sea
transportation or otherwise keeping in storage any
amount of hazardous and nuclear wastes in any part of
the Philippines.

When the company releases their purchase orders to its


vendors and suppliers, the environmental requirements
are always specified in detail.

Harmful chemical from the suppliers must provide


description about the chemical.

Extra careful when handling a chemical listed in PICCS


(Philippine Inventory of Chemicals and Chemical
Substances)

SUPPLY CHAIN INBOUND LOGISTICS

Supplier must give MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) to


Amkor.

The company provides a checklist to its suppliers to


indicate the products safety and emergency
preparedness during deliveries or transfer and usage of
chemicals.

If the supplier done any changes to its supplied product,


Amkor must be informed and further examinations will be
conducted.

Amkor coordinates to its suppliers for a more health and


environmental friendly production.

Organizing environmental awareness programs and


seminars to its suppliers and vendors.

Lets its suppliers and vendors to check their plants and


observe their environmental performance and ask them if
it is acceptable.

INVOLVEMENT

Paliko Creek is located at the back of Amkor Plant in Barangay


Cupang, Muntinlupa, used to be a dumping ground of garbage and
became a major disease source.

Muntinlupa officials and Amkor have agreed in the following:

Designation of a permanent watcher and cleaner

The issuance of a barangay ordinance creating rules against


dumping and its corresponding sanction

Amkor will donate trolley bins

Recommendation to monitor other companies that dump


waste on the creek and request them to develop their
environmental programs.

NET EFFECTS

Company has saved a lot from its energy and water


conservation programs

Production efficiency increased

Company is always ready for surprise inspection of the


government

All achievements of Amkor can be achieved not only by


economic accomplishments but also through participation
in environmental and social activities.
