CHAPTER 1
Introduction

Introduction
LRT or Light Rail Transit is a public
transport that can load many
passengers especially those people
who dont have their vehicles
LRT Safety Fences with Automatic
Gate Control are used to help the
passengers of LRT to ensure their
safety when it comes to the people
who want to commit suicide or
accidentally pushed inside the rail

Background of the Study

Many accidents occurred in the LRT
premises
Organizing the passengers and the
flow of loading/unloading passengers
will also be the purpose of this
project.

Statement of the Problem

Cannot prevent accidents from happening
Some passengers are still stepping on the
red line even if the Security guard warned
them
Lack of discipline on falling in line at LRT
station is one issue when it comes to
passengers
Uncoordinated loading and unloading of
passengers

Hypotheses
Ho: There is no significant difference
between the design project and its existing
system.
Ha: There is a significant difference
between the design project and its existing
system in terms of the following criteria:
Functionality
Manageability
Safety
Security

Significance of the Study

This project will provide safety and
protection for the passengers. It
allows them to be organized properly
when entering and exiting in LRT
thus preventing them to accidentally
push someone cause accidents
It also helps prevent people from
attempting suicide by jumping
towards the railroad because of the
fence.

Scope
can be used inside the LRT Station
for safety purpose
open and close automatically
depending on LRT doors movement
can lessen the work of the security
guard on the platform

Limitation
a bit delay of closing the door when
the trains leaves
vulnerable of having a power
breakdown
the overall cost is expensive

Methods of Research
Qualitative research method was
applied by the proponents in
gathering information through the
internet.
Quantitative research was used to
gather information through survey,
to determine which of the
hypotheses are true.

Data Gathering Instruments

In qualitative method, we gather
data in the internet where a lot of
information is available.
In quantitative method, we conduct
survey using questionnaire
distributed to the LRT passengers

Conceptual / Theoretical Framework

Cost and Benefit Analysis

We have estimated the cost of the
actual project is more or less 22,000
per sliding door where we have
included all
The actual mini prototype is costing
15, 000.00 including the train, rails,
sliding door and etc

Evaluation Criteria
1

Criteria
Manageability
This refers for managing the line well
of passengers and having a separate
area for women only.
Safety
This pertains to the conditions of being
guided if any actions against their
guidelines have been taken just for the
passengers safety.
Operability
This pertains to the alertness of the
LRTA to quickly operate the train even
the unexpected breakdown occurs.
Maintainability
This refers to the ability of LRTA to
maintain the trains cleanliness and
good condition.
