Principles of the SVC control

The main purpose of the SVC is to reduce
Voltage fluctuation
Flicker phenomena
The need for additional reactive power
Rapid changes in reactive power
Harmonics
Unbalanced loads

Principles of the SVC control

Operation of SVC
SVC consists of protection system and control system
Reactive power control has two main functions
Reactive power of the furnace is compensated
separately for each phase. This is done with a fast
open loop control.
Slower closed loop integrator controller
compensates any longterm reactive power offsets
in the point of common coupling.
