The Simple Past Tense

Mean and Function

The simple past tense is used to

describe a completed activity that
happened in the past. In other words,
it started in the past and ended in
the past

Timing of The Simple Past

Tense
The simple past tense is used to talk
about a completed action in a time
before now. Duration is not
important. The time of the action can
be in the recent past or the distance
part

Forming The Simple Past

Verbal Forms : Subject + Verb 2
Ex. :She killed a snake yesterday
He wrote me a letter last week
Nominal Forms : Subject + Was/Were +
