II. WHO COMPRISES THE TEAM?

II. WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE

TEAM?

He should possess a sound, moral, spiritual

character.
- has a growing relationship with Jesus
- has a regular Quiet time and prayer
- has a growing commitment to the Music
ministry
- is a role model
- morally upright
- has a lifestyle of worship

He should aspire to musical excellence

(1 Chronicles 25: 6,7)
- has the skill/potential to sing or play
an instrument
- finds time to practice (ideally 40-60
min/day)
- studies the theories (if possible)
- exercises reading notes; reads books
- trains the ear listens to music/cds
etc.

He should be teachable; possess a

cooperative spirit and an attitude
of responsibility.
He should seek to serve the Lord
Jesus Christ and the body of Christ.
He should consecrate his ministry
to the Lord.

a. SELECTING THE SONGS
1. Who is your audience?
2. How much time do you have?
3. Know your theme or goal.
4. Analyze/Internalize the lyrics of the
songs.

5. How do you start and end?

6. Include both old/new
songs;
hymns/ contemporary.
7. Think of keys and
tempos.
8. Learn to transpose.

b. ARRANGING THE SONGS

1. First, list the songs that encourage
people
to focus on the Lord to prepare
their hearts
for worship.
2. Next, list the songs that will flow
nicely into
the next song.

4. The arrangement of the songs

should build
up and create a flow where it
reaches a
peak.
5. Anticipate how you would end.
6. After arranging the songs, start
internalizing, memorizing and
praciticing

3. PRACTICE

3. Get the right chords of each song (first

your team members.

5. Practice everything that is written in your

final draft including hand signals.
Run the plan.
6. Allow some time in practicing new songs.

9. Have a regular devotion with your
team.

1. Do focus on the Lord; dont focus on
yourself.
2. If you make a mistake, dont panic.
3. Dont focus on the lcd.
4. Do establish eye contact with your
audience.
Closing the eyes when worshipping is
okay but
not the whole duration of your
songleading.

worship/respond; just encourage them.
Avoid uttering unnecessary words while
singing.
Dont preach.
The back-up singers voices should not be
louder than the leaders voice.
