Test Before You Touch : Before starting any electrical activity, never
assume that the electrical equipment or system is de-energized.
Remember to always TEST BEFORE YOU TOUCH.

Understand the construction and operation of the electrical


equipment and the hazardsinvolved.
Identify all possible energy sources that couldpose on-the-job
hazards.
Know safety requirements and follow them.
Select the appropriate personal protectiveequipment (PPE).
Remember, PPE must beworn until the electrical system is in a
safecondition.
Complete a detailed job plan and communicateit to all coworkers.
Before working on or around electrical systemsor equipment,
identify the load circuits anddisconnect. Remember, in some cases,
turningpower off may cause other hazards. Suchhazards and
additional guidance should beaddressed in your work plan.
Use lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Verify that the equipment or system has beende-energized by
testing.
Make sure your test equipment is working,both before and after you
use it.
Above all, never assume that the equipment orsystem is deenergized. Remember to always TESTBEFORE YOU TOUCH.

1. Risk Assessment must be carried out prior to start of any project to identify electrical
hazards.
2. Electrical hazards must be identified during planned inspections of facilities /projects.
3. All statutory requirements laid under The Indian Electricity Act & Rules must be complied
with.
4. Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) devices must be installed on the electrical systems.
5. All electrical equipment / appliances must be installed with body earthing.
6. Wherever there is a risk to personnel, an Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB)
of appropriate rating must be installed in the circuit.
7. Rubber mats meeting Indian Standards must be placed in front of all access
doors of electrical panels.
8. Unauthorized access to electrical system / equipment must be prevented. Hazard signs
must be posted.
9. Fire retardant cables should be used for new projects and whenever modifications are
carried out to existing facilities.
10.Re-wirable fuses must not be used.
11. Only appropriately qualified and trained personnel must work with electrical
systems.
12.Work on live electrical equipment must be controlled.
13. An energy isolation work permit using LOTO must be issued prior to working
with electrical systems.
14. Vodafone approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be used while
working with electrical systems.
15. Use of extension boards must be restricted to temporary use only.
16. All portable power tools must be registered and inspected periodically as well as prior to
use HSW update
