Matching Packets
While you have the location and direction figured out,
you would be thinking next of what packets you plan
to filter and which ones you want to allow through. To
let the router know this, you would then configure the
router with an IP ACL that matches packets.
Matching packets refers to how to configure the ACL
commands to look at each packet, listing how to
identify which packets should be disgarded, and which
should be allowed through
Types of IP ACLs
Cisco has added many ACL features over the years,
such as:
Named ACLs
Advanced IPv4
ACLs and Device
Security
For protocol type, simply use a keyword such as: tcp, udp, or
icmp, matching IP packets that happen to have a tcp, udp,
icmp header following your IP header.
You must also configure some values for the source and
destination IP addresses
