ABSTRACT

Almost all countries in our world are using a high tech

advanced technologies in their military and defence in order to

protect and safe guard their nations.
The military technology includes the total collection of
equipments, weapons, vehicles, structures and communication.
The main theme of this is to give an detailed account of the
advanced technology in sniper rifles used in military.

INTRODUCTION
The term Sniper is derived from the snipe, a bird which was

difficult to hunt and shoot.

A sniper rifle is a man-portable, high precision, shoulder-fired

rifle, for military or law enforcement use.

It is designed to ensure more accurate shooting at longer ranges

than other small arms.

A typical sniper rifle is built for high levels of accuracy, fitted

with a telescopic sight and chambered for a military center fire

cartridge.

NOMENCLATURE

OPERATION
The sniper rifle is a self loading weapon.
Reloading of the rifle is based on utilizing the energy of
powder gases.
Bullets flows through the port in the barrel bore wall into the
gas
chamber due powder gases.
Pressure exerts on the front wall of the piston and throws the
piston back.
Rearward direction of the bolts opens the barrel bore.
Cartridge case gets removed from the cartridge chamber.
Bolt support compresses the return spring and cocks the
hammer i.e
engages with the cocking cam.
The bolt return to the front position under the action of the
retracting
mechanism.

To fire a shot,it is necessary to release the trigger press it anew.

The rod moves forward and hook engages the sear,it
disengages from hammer
cam.
Hammer actuates the main spring and strikes the firing pin.
Thus a shot is fired.
The last cartridge fired and the bolt returned to the rearward
position.

SOME OF ADVANCED SNIPER RIFLES

M107
The M107 is a semi-auto rifle with a 10 round magazine making fast repeat shots
possible with little delay.
This rifle can engage targets out to a maximum zero range of 1200m.

M24 RIFLE
It is a very versatile sniper system shootinga 7.62mm cartridge.
Bolt action,it operates with a capacity of 5 rounds making it a little
slower.
The M24 had a max zero range of 800m.
It bring down the target in one hit very quickly.

10

M110 RIFLE
The M110 is a unique sniper system.
It is a semi-automatic rifle has night vision capabilities.
With this optic the thermal view through the scope as either white hot or black hot.

7.3 LUBRICATION
Lubricate the barrel bore with the help of the scourer and the waste cloth, soaked in
lubricant; lubricate the cartridge chamber.
Lubricate all the remaining metal parts and mechanisms with oiled waste cloth.
Apply a thin layer of lubricant, as excessive lubrication tends to increase soiling of
the rifle parts and may result in stoppages during firing.
Do not lubricate wooden parts.

ADVANTAGES
It is portable.
High precession.
High level of accuracy in firing.
Long range shooting options

compared to small arms.

High durability.

CONCLUSION
The main aim is to provide the overall

development in almost all sectors in field of the

military technology which includes weapons,
equipments, transportation and others.
This is only an idea or abstract about the military

technology.
By employing the highly advanced technology in

our Indian military will makes our country to

become the one among the most powerful
country in the world.
