Tata in CSR

Under the Company act, all companies with at least Rs 5-crore


net profit or Rs 1,000-crore turnover will have to spend 2% of
their annual net profit on CSR activities which include slum
redevelopment, road safety awareness and consumer
protection services with effect from April 1, 2015.
According to Times of India , the Tata Group companies spent
Rs 660 crore on CSR in the just ended fiscal which is well
above 2% of its net profit.
Tata Group has emerged as biggest CSR spending group in the
country. As per a media report, the Tata Group spent Rs 1,000
crore on corporate social responsibility (CSR) in 2013-14.
A significant amount of the total CSR spend by the Tata Group
has gone into skill development, health and education, with
Tata Steel emerging as the biggest spender within the group.

Providing Livelihood
Tata Steel Provides Livelihood to Over 3000 Families in Odisha
Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed by Tata Steel has
helped in providing sustainable livelihood opportunities
to more than 3,000 rural households.
More than 90 per cent of these SHGs are run exclusively
by women.
The locations in kolkata where Tata Steel is actively
facilitating formation of SHGs include Kalinganagar,
Bamnipal, Sukinda, Joda and Gopalpur among others.
Tata (through its 22 Self Helf Groups) has also
developed nursery where they are raising more than
0.1 million saplings every year, earning a profit of Rs 4-5 lakhs
annually

Chief Mentor.
34 schools participated in the
education excellence
assessment out of which 16 won
the award function.
8 schools were also awarded for
Education Quality Improvement
Projects (EQUIP) .
21 schools were also recognised
with Good
Practices of Schools award.

Encouraging Healthcare
International Nurses Day, which is celebrated across the
world on May 12, is a tribute to Florence Nightingale.
Tata Main Hospital (TMH) ,Jamshedpur celebrated
International Nurses Day on May 12, 2012 for
recognizing the selfless service provided by nurses to
the society.
The theme for International Nurses Day 2012 was
Closing the Gap from Evidence to Action. The theme
underscores the need for action with regard to
treatment on the basis of strong evidence regarding to
illness.
Nursing is one of the noblest professions in the world. It
gives a great sense of satisfaction to care for those in
pain and sickness and thus nurse them back to health.

A Step Towards Public


Needs

In Noamundi , Jamshedpur 126 solar lights have been


installed. Each 250 watt Sodium Vapour light has been
replaced by 36 watt Solar powered light and 42 such
solar lights have been installed which resulted in an
estimated savings of Rs.1.92 lakhs per annum.
One can easily sum up the expected notional savings
from 126 solar lights put up in seven villages around
Noamundi , Jamshedpur.
45 acres of barren mined out land has been converted
into a green buffer zone named Sir Dorabji Tata
Botanical Park in 90s and recently installed rain water
harvesting parks in 2010-12
