Importance of Values in
Education
Without the value-level of
teaching, we contribute to the
development of persons who have
big heads but tiny hearts. We
contribute to the formation of
Intellectual Giants but
Emotional Dwarfs.
Inner Realities
Cognitive Dimension
Meaning of the value, What is meant by honesty?
Reason, Why do I have to be honest?
Affective Dimension
We have to feel something towards honesty
We have to move towards honesty as preferable to
dishonesty.
Behavioural Dimension
We practice honesty and so lead an honest life.
Inner Realities
This means that the values they
profess in the cognitive level will
be filtered down to the affective as
well as the behavioural, thereby
making them authentic persons
who are true to themselves and
becoming fully human.
Outer Realities
These systems include the
Family unit,
the School,
the Church,
the Workplace,
the Community,
the Nation,
the World
and even Cosmic Realities,
experience of a higher power.

In summary, the valuing process in the
context of learning to be fully human
challenges the individual not to
lose his or her self (soul); a self
that is discerning and empowered
to define and not be defined.
