INDESIGN IS THE PREDECESSOR TO PAGEMAKER.
InDesign is the successor toAdobe PageMaker, which was
acquired with the purchase ofAldus (software companythat
developeddesktop publishing (DTP)software)in late 1994.
INDESIGN WAS INTRODUCED TO THE MARKET IN
1999. Adobe continued to work on a new page layout
application. The project had been started by Aldus and
was code-named "Shuksan". It was later code-named "K2"
and was released as InDesign 1.0 in 1999.

TheNew Documentdialog box combines theDocument
Setupand theMargins And Columns dialog boxes, so that
you can set up the page size, margins, and page columns all
in one place. You can change these settings at any time.
Toolbars
The tool bar is located on the left hand side of the screen.
If it is not visible, go to: window > tools
Some of the tools have small arrows at the bottom right
corner. This indicates there are more than one to select
from. Hold the mouse over the tool and the others will be
displayed.
Each tool has its own shortcut, e.g. the pen tools shortcut
is the letter P. Make sure you are not using the text tool
when attempting to use shortcuts, otherwise it will be
added to the text box selected.

the bottom of the screen, it allows the user to grab
multiple pieces of contentand repurpose throughout the
same or separate documents using theContent
