‡ I think on the whole my whole package is very effective
as the three areas, trailer, poster and magazine cover link
well to give an overall view of the film and the main
character of it showing him in a good likable way so the
audience can take a nice shining to the actor in and out of
the film. I tried to use basic media conventions for all
areas so that the package would turn out and be simple
but despite that the package will be effective and
attractive to the correct target audience which from
feedback shows I did manage that.
|agazine Cover
From the magazine cover and the main
picture on the cover it is obvious that the
main feature shown in the magazine is
about a basketball player or someone
from a basketball film which in this case it
is. Then the writing on the page shows
that it is actually about One Shot and
does make it clear for the audience. Also I
think that the cover follows basic
conventions of a film magazine with
relation to the µZ¶ shape, it has the title at
the top reading from left to right with that
grapping attention the price and the
website follows up. It then takes you into
the P.O.A where you see part of the title of
the film as well as the basketball Will is
holding. It then goes down the bottom of
the cover reading the extras in the
magazine edition.
Film trailer
‡ I think the film trailer shows the audience enough of the film to
get them interested but the main idea is to keep them
guessing and the trailer does that as well as builds a certain
suspense as to what is really going to happen. It starts off
slow and simple with simple conversation and clips of the
basketball at the park, just giving the audience the general
idea then it speeds through just showing the idea of how the
film goes as Jordan tries to achieve his goal. In all three areas
Jordan¶s costume is the same giving the easy link between
the three areas. I feel that the trailer does follow conventions
of sports related adventure like film trailers especially
compared to the two that I based it on µGoal¶ and µRocky¶.
They link to those in the way that they show where the players
roots are as well as glimpses of there ability/potential so the
audience is always aware of what the person can do.
Poster
With the poster I tried to make it follow
simple conventions and think that I did this
well and it did so. It followed conventions
in the way that the title was at the top
reading from right to left and leading into
the P.O.A where the main part of the
picture was which in this case was the Will
holding the ball. It then carried on down
and across the bottom in the µZ¶ shape as
you read the tag line into the age
certificate of the film in the terminal area.
The poster does clearly show that it is from
the One Shot package as it is clear to
relate the main character from the film and
to this poster as well as the magazine
cover. It uses a basic format but this was
done for a reason to show clearly what it is
about and make it easy for my audience to
understand all aspects of the package.

Research
‡ When doing the research for my media
package the internet played a key role in
allowing me to be able to access the sort of
products to analyze and find information
that I could use in my package. When trying
to find the magazine cover of real life
products I simply typed in the name of the
magazine covers µTotal Film¶ and µEmpire¶
magazine on Google images which then
allowed me to copy and paste the image of
those specific magazine covers into
|icrosoft word where I could in a simple
written form analyze the magazines. The
same process was used when analyzing
the film posters for the films µGoal¶ and
µRocky¶ with Google images and |icrosoft
word making it easy for me to analyze the
posters. Also during the research stage to
collect the audience research needed for
the target audience and what they would
like to see in the film and even what the film
to be called I firstly used |icrosoft word. I
used this for the making of the
questionnaires for the information needed.
Then once all results were collected I used
|icrosoft excel to collect and put the results
of questionnaires into graphs so the results
were well displayed and easy to take the
information from.

‡ The film Goal which I analysed for the film poster and the film
trailer was distributed by touchstone pictures which is owned
by Walt Disney Pictures and is situated in America at Walt
Disney headquarters. Disney is a major conglomerate that
produces many films and also produces a lot a money making
sure that films coming under there name will be a of a good
high quality.
‡ Then Rocky the other film that I looked at was a United Artists
film that is a industry owned by |G| who are also another
huge American based company which is actually partly owned
by Sony which is a huge industry.
‡ When analysing magazine covers I looked at two major
magazines and the front covers of them magazines which are
Total Film and Empire magazine.
v
‡ During the planning stage of
the project the majority of it
was done on |icrosoft word
forming the basis for ideas
and the planning of the
products e.g. shot lists and
script and planning of trailer.
Then the use of |icrosoft
publisher was used for drafts
of the poster and magazine
cover. Finally there was the
use of the scanner in the
school for the storyboarding
and getting the written
storyboard onto the computer
ready for the blog.

‡ During the construction phase of the package making the
magazine cover and film poster I used |icrosoft publisher for
the page of the page as the tools on the specific software are
easy to use and very effective for the making of magazine
covers and film posters which it was in this instance.
Publisher also allowed you to save the parts of the package
in a certain style µJPEG¶ which allowed them to be added to
the blog as an image making them easy to access. When
making the film trailer I used a Sony digital camera which
was very easy to use and transfer onto the computer where I
edited the footage recorded on Windows |ovie |aker. This
allowed me to edit the footage and add music producing my
final product (film trailer). Then also publish the video easily
onto the computer ready to upload onto you tube. Then the
final part was where I added the link for my video on you tube
onto my blog for it to be able to be viewed.

‡ When evaluating my package I firstly used a
questionnaire which was made on |icrosoft word, this
was used to gain audience feedback on the package.
Then when writing the evaluation itself I made a plan for
the evaluation also on |icrosoft word then made the
actual evaluation on |icrosoft PowerPoint as this
allowed me to show the evaluation in a more specific
manner and allowed it to be clearer and easy to take the
information from.
‡ During this whole project and the during the making of
my package all aspects have been updated onto my
personal blog as I went along. I kept this blog on
http://callumsoccer.blogspot.com/ it was easy to
use and allowed me to keep information all together and
make it easy to see all aspects put onto the blog.
ã

v
‡ Some of the positive feedback that I have received from my
audience is the way that my product link together well as a
package and that the trailer, poster and magazine cover all
include the main character of the story and the simply the
ball itself. They said that the colour on the magazine and
poster linked well to the story line and one even said the
bright colours emphasize the fact that the character can be
linked to a bright future.
‡ Other positive feedback was that the music fitted well and
flowed well with the build up of the film as it built up to the
end dunk. They said that it added to the affect that the film
is sort of like an adventure for Will/Jordan and its quite
smooth and calm as he goes on the journey.
‡ Positive feedback on the blog itself was that it was in the
correct chronological order and was clear to see the
process that I went through to plan and construct my overall
package.
Ò

‡ Elements of the magazine were in some parts a little
complicated and the extra features (not the main feature)
were a little vague and not as interesting. With the poster a
person said that the picture did look a little bit like a
magazine cover picture and could have used a different to
possibly make it more effective.
‡ With the trailer people said that it could have been broken
up a little more from the action and had more conversation
or even a voice over. This would be to give the film a
different effect and explain the trailer a little better.
‡ With the blog as a whole a couple of people said that it may
have been more affective if the blog was organized into
section; research, planning, package and evaluation.
‡ So on the whole I learned a few aspects that I could
change if I was to do it again e.g possibly better
organisation on the blog to make the overall coursework
better.

other posters of the same film genre which on both of them it has the pictures
in this case is Rocky as both film title are occupying the middle of the page
shown large and bold at the top of the page (P.O.A). Also both pictures add
grabbing the audiences attention as it elements of mystery to there journey¶s

there face. You can guess from the
pictures exactly what they are about
from the clothing and adds to the
effectiveness of the posters.

not the same. On the rocky poster the
tag line is at the bottom and on One
Shot the tag line is at the bottom.
Both symbol importance but just in a
different way. Another difference is
the use of colour, One Shot is quite
bright however, Rocky is black and
white giving different effects.

what is going to happen but not too much to give it away. I do think mine
does this well as it gives you the idea of what is happening to Jordan but not
what actually happens which in my opinion works well and intrigues people
to want more from it.

‡ I feel that the trailer does follow conventions of sports related adventure like
