Structure
 A Trade Union is a continuous association
of wage-earners or salaried employees
for the purpose of securing diverse range
of benefits.
 A trade union is an organization of
workers formed to promote, protect and
improve, through collective action, the
social economic & political interests of its
members.

 On 20th August,2008, Eight trade unions and 40
employees federations are participated in strike
protesting against the rising food prices and the UPA
government's "anti-people" economic policies, anti-
labour policies.
 Strike hit operations in the banking, insurance, aviation,
railways and various other government sectors.
 The unions have a six-point charter of demands, which
includes curbing inflation, a comprehensive Unorganized
Workers Bill, loan-waiver scheme for farmers, proper
implementation of labour laws, removal of anomalies in
the Sixth Pay Commission among other things
 Also, 80,000 employees of the State Bank of India (SBI)
and its seven associate banks went on strike in protest
against the governments decision to merge the State
Bank of Saurashtra (SBS) with the SBI
