INTRODUCTION
CAP
College
Foundation,
Inc.
a
recognized pioneer in educational innovations in the
Philippines was established in 1988 as a non-stock,
non-sectarian educational foundation. Instituted under
Philippine laws, CAP College engages in education,
research and related activities utilizing non-traditional
or non-formal as well as formal delivery of instruction
and grants degrees for programs recognized by the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
CAP

is
patterned
after
the
open
university concept of education which is already wellestablished and widely accepted in Europe, North America
and the United States, Australia, and Asia . With its nontraditional delivery of instruction, CAP College brings learning
alternatives, new hope and opportunities to Filipinos here
and abroad.

HISTORY
From its inception in 1988, the vision of
providing quality education for the
widest number of people has been the
guiding light of CAP College. CAP
College' s growing number of graduates,
here and abroad is a testimony to its
pioneering spirit in the field of nontraditional education in the Philippines.

College is a
private, non-stock and non-sectarian foundation,
engaged in education, research and related activities. It
utilizes the non-formal delivery systems of instruction
to grant degrees for programs recognized by the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Principal Objective.CAP
College provides
opportunities for higher education to persons who
cannot attend regular or conventional schools on
account of time, distance, finances and other
constraints.
Curricular Programs.CAP
College designs
its own instructional materials. Courses are constantly
updated in order to meet the social, economic and
industrial demands of its clientele. Initially, CAP College
offered two-year courses in liberal arts and commerce.

Method of
Instructions
Instruction.Basically,
instruction is delivered
to the student through self-learning modules. There is
an average of five modules to a course and an average
of
five
lessons
to
each
module.
Student
accomplishments are measured through a series of
written tests: the self-administered lesson tests, the
comprehensive module tests and the final test, which
is taken personally at the College. The submission of
learner activity requirements is also a mandatory
component of the system. Oral validating exams are
given on an at need basis. Those in the provinces or
abroad may take the final tests in pre-designated
centers with which CAP College has linkages such as
Philippine Embassies and Consulates or Tutorial
Centers and other schools in the area. CAP College
Final Examinations.Final
Examinations are
scheduled 3rd to 4th week of April for the first trimester, 3rd
to 4th week of August for the second trimester and 3rd to 4th
week of December for the third trimester. These may be
taken in any of the 13 CAP College Learning Centers located
nearest the student's residence or province. The request for a
final exam schedule should be submitted not later than the
first week of April, August and December. Only after a student
has passed the final examinations for all subjects enrolled
shall he or she be permitted to register for another term.
Mid Trimestral final examinations are also allowed for fast
learners.
Tutorial
Services.Year-round
CAP
College's network of Integrated Finance Processing
Centers (IFPC's), which are located in major cities,
double as Learning Centers. They provide tremendous
support in increasing educational opportunities for as
many Filipinos as possible. Each center is equipped
with two-way communication facilities such as radio,
radio-modem, facsimile machines and soon, the
Internet. These are networked and interconnected into
a nationwide communication system. Each learning
center is manned by a CAP College Building
Coordinator who facilitates the activities in each area.
Accredited tutors in each province help monitor the
academic status of every student.
DEAR CAP,
Graduation.Upon
satisfactory
completion of all requirements, the scholastic
record of the students shall be forwarded to
CHED for consideration and issuance of the
Special Order. Graduation ceremonies are held
every April at CAP Development Centers in
Makati City and in the provinces.
