A firm has decided to ascertain the brand loyalty for

its products in two different sales zones: south
sales zone and north sales zone. The research
wing has administered this questionnaire to 40
randomly selected respondents of two sales zones.
They wanted two know whether there is a
significant difference between the scores obtained
from the south sales zone and north sales zone.
The total scores collected from the respondents are
given as---

A company is interested in considering two different

television advertisements
for the promotion of a new
product. The management believes that advertisement A is
more effective than B. To test market areas with virtually
identical
consumer
characteristics
are
selected.
Advertisement A is used in one area and B in the other area.
In a random sample of 60 consumers who saw advertisement
A, 18 tried the product. In a random sample of 100
consumers who saw advertisement B, 22 tried the product.
Does it indicate that advertisement A is more effective than
B?
A firm wanted to choose a popular actor to be the brand
ambassador for the firms product. However, before taking
the final decision, the firm conducted a market survey to
know the opinion of its customers in Chennai and Mumbai.
The survey revealed that 280 out of 400 customers favoured
the choice, in Chennai, only 180 out of 300 customers
favoured the choice in Mumbai. Can the firm conclude that
the proportions of customers who favoured the actor in
Mumbai and Chennai are the same?

The manager of a workshop wishes to

determine if a new process would reduce the
working time per unit manufactured on a given
machine. He recorded the initial timings in
minutes taken by 5 workers and the new
timings by the same workers after introducing
the process. He wishes to draw inference about
the usefulness of the process from the
observations given below. Use 5% level of
