Definition
Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic waves we
can see. We see these waves as the colors of the rainbow.
Each color has a different wavelength. Red has the longest
wavelength and violet has the shortest wavelength. When all
the waves are seen together, they make white light.
Visible light is electromagnetic waves which have a
wavelength of 700 nm to 400 nm.

Wavelenght and Frequency

Visible light wave has
a wavelenght () is
400- 720 nm
Frequency (f) of visible
light wave is 400- 789
12Hz
THz. *1 THz=1012

Humans can see the

waves with = 390750 nm and f = 40012
790 THz ( 1 THz = 1012
Hz).

Sir Isaac Newton was
the first to test the
visible light from the

bearn of light that can
divided into several
colors such as red,

Johann Wilhelm

Johann Wilhelm Ritter (16

January 1810) was a
German chemist,
physicist and philosopher.
The "chemical rays"
found by him were
afterwards called
ultraviolet radiation.

Frederick William Herschel,

- August 25, 1822) was a
Hanoverian-born British
astronomer, technical expert,
and composer. He was the
first person to discover the
existence of infrared
radiation.

Figure
James Clerk Maxwell
James Clerk Maxwell he was
born in Edinburgh, Scotland
on 13th of Juny 1813. He was
the first who wrote about
Magnetism Law and the
electricity in mathematics
formula. Maxwell knew that
light is the which one of the
shape from electromagnetic
radiation.

How do we "see" using Visible

Light?
Cones in our eyes are
receivers for these tiny visible
light waves. The Sun is a
natural source for visible light
waves and our eyes see the
reflection of this sunlight off
the objects around us.

The color of an object that we see is

the color of light reflected. All other
colors are absorbed.
