MICROWAVE

INFRARED

Definition
Microwave is wave with a
super highfrequency (SHF)
If a microwave is absorbed by
something,
then it will show the effect of the heat on
it

Frequency
Area

Microwave has frequency

between
300 MHz (0.3 GHz) and 300 GHz

Wave length
Microwave with a wavelength between 1
millimeter to 1 centimeter

Microwave station works with the aid of

an antenna,
receiver devices, and other equipment
necessary for the transmission
of data communications with microwaves.
Microwave signals can transmit data at
speeds up to 45 Mbps,
but due to the microwave signal is moving
in a straight line in one direction,
then both the transmitter (transmitter)
and receiver (receiver)
must be within the line of sight (one point
line of sight) .
So mounting the center of the microwave
should be considered
once the location and position to avoid
possible interference

APPLICATION IN DAILY
LIFE

Radar

Transmitter a emit the electromagnetic

wave to duplexer, and then duplexer
changes the electromagnetic waves into
the microwaves. Radar a emit the
microwaves to detect a object. And then
the object deflected the microwaves to
radar. From radar, waves sent to duplexer
and changing to electromagnetic and
display in monitor

Conclusion
Microwaves are part of the
electromagnetic wave and has unique
features compared to other waves.
This wave is very beneficial for
human life in various fields especially
in the field of communication.

INFRARED

Definition
Infrared is radiation electromagnetic with
wavelength longer than visible light, but
its short than radio waves. Means of
infrared in the Latin consist of infra and
red. Infra means below, red is the color
of visible light with the longest
wavelength.

charactheristic
1. can not be seen by humans
2. can not penetrate untransparant
materials
3. can be caused by components that
produce heat
4. The wavelength of infrared has a
opposite relation with the temperature.
When the temperature is increase the
wavelength is decrease.
5. Has the high power of fluctuation and
can be intervented by the sun light.

WAVELENGTH AND
FREQUENCY
Wavelength: Ranges from
10-5 meter to 10-7 meter
Frequency :

1. Near Infrared(760
-1400 nm)
2. Mid Infrared(14003000 nm)
3. Far Infrared(3000nm
1 mm)

Electromagnetic Spectrum

Inventor Of Infrared
Infrared light was
discovered in 1800 by Sir
Frederick William Herschel.
He was decided to
investigate the
temperature of each color
of the spectrum produced
when sunlight is passed
through a prism.

APPLICATION FROM INFRARED

IRSPECTROPHOTOMETER

Infrared spectroscopy exploits the fact that

molecules absorb specific frequencies that are
characteristic of their structure.
the frequency of the absorbed radiation matches
the transition energy of the bond or group that
vibrates.
