GSC@41

Good Samaritan Colleges is now on its 41st year. it

has weathered all odds and has emerged into one
of the most solid, respected and financially viable
educational institutions in Cabanatuan City. While
it has limited sources of income, prudent
expenditures of cash revenues and careful use of
physical facilities have allowed the College to be
viable.

New Initiatives

New Initiatives

For the last five years, as envisioned in our 5-year

Development Plan, new initiatives have been undertaken by
the College, Among these are:
Construction of the GS Center that includes AVRs, the Nursing Arts
Laboratory, the Home Management Laboratory, the Catalina Theater
Hall and classrooms.
Comprehensive Faculty and Staff Development Program, in terms of
scholarships, grants, in-house seminars and workshop, training
programs scheduled outside of GSC.
Institution of additional subjects to improve communication and critical
thinking skills and IT proficiency of students.
Expansion of student services including: additional Guidance
Counselors, additional canteen, bookshop, computer laboratories, and
a dormitory in Manila (St Annes Hall) to house students undergoing
affiliation.
Acquisition of an additional 1,700 sq. meter lot adjacent to GSC for
additional space and soon, an additional multi-storey building.

Where Do We Go From Here?

GSC has established itself as a health sciences center in Nueva

Ecija. The vision of the Founders, to have a school and a
hospital that will provide Cabanatuan City and Nueva ecija the
best healthcare facilities, competent, compassionate,
committed healthcare providers and efficient and effective
health services at affordable cost is fulfilled, but we continue
to aspire for the best.

Side by side with the vision of the founders to provide the best
healthcare, is the challenge of educating the young, exposing
them to quality learning, developing their potentials, imparting in
them the right values, molding them to be good citizens, and
training them to be critical thinkers and decision makers

Teacher-training is one of the advocacies of GSC. Good

Samaritan Colleges regularly sponsors in-house seminars
and workshops for the faculty to train them to be effective
teachers. It has opened the PEC (18 additional units of
Education courses) for non-teacher education graduates to
allow them to take the LET exam. It has also offered tuition
fee discounts (for 4 years) to those enrolled in the CoEd to
complete their studies.

To cope with the increasing demands of the tourism and hospitality market,
GSC now offers courses in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Travel
Management. GSC also intends to offer certificate courses in food services
and management. These courses will provide skills to those applying for
immediate employment locally or abroad. Among those who will be trained
are: culinary technicians, menu planners, cooks, caterers, food processors,
bread and pastry makers, waiters and bartenders. The courses will also
train home managers and housekeepers.

At present, we are finalizing programs that

can be ladderized in our existing health
sciences curriculum.
These include

Biomedical Equipment Services

Massage Therapy
Emergency Medical Services
Barangay Health Workers
Healthcare Services.

Leadership Role

Good Samaritan Colleges has always assumed a leadership

role in healthcare programs and services in Nueva Ecija.
Among the schools in Cabanatuan City, GSC offers the most
number of health sciences courses. To train nurses,
NEGSHS and GSC have opened a one year residency and a
one year internship program to train RNs in clinical
services.

Leadership Role

Good Samaritan Colleges alumni have distinguished

themselves in the healthcare professions. Many of them
occupy positions of responsibility in several hospitals in the
US, UK and in the Middle East. Several are directors or
heads of nursing services. In Cabanatuan City, three (3)
of the deans of nursing colleges are graduates of
Good Samaritan Colleges. Several Chief Nurses of
hospitals are completing or have completed their Master
of Arts in Nursing at Good Samaritan Colleges.

Tradition of Excellence

The tradition of excellence has always been the

driving force in whatever decisions the Founders
have made. This tradition continues to the present
generation of administrators, and hopefully to the
future leaders and decision makers of Good
Samaritan.

Tradition of Excellence

The College is constantly finding

ways to improve curriculum
delivery.

It is always looking for ways to improve

its Management Information System,
with the computerization of enrollment
and finance.
This year, we are computerizing our
library system. It is constantly
upgrading physical resources.
All classrooms from Pre-School to
College program are air-conditioned.
Two years ago, the e-library was
installed.
The reading room of the main library is
now air-conditioned.
Our slogan is Sa GSC Alaga Ka!!

Tradition of Excellence

The Good Samaritan Colleges is expanding and

enriching its research program.

The faculty is encouraged to assign reading materials in the

library,
to encourage students to read
to gather and process information useful to their studies and
everyday life.

Tradition of Excellence

Concerned with its social responsibility, GSC has

scheduled community activities including
tree planting
activities an Urban Farming drive
livelihood programs like mushroom culture
literacy programs in its adopted communities.

Tradition of Excellence
While we value tradition, we are also open
to change, to find new ways, new avenues
to improve old systems. There is the everpresent challenge to maximize our
potentials, try new grounds, move on, move
ahead, be the first, excel.

This is the direction that

Good Samaritan Colleges
wants to take - to be
relevant and meet the
demands of industry and the
global market and to
produce competent
graduates who will be the
best in their field and who
will remain human an
humane, compassionate,
caring and committed not
only to their professional
development but to
improving the quality of life
of others.
